Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt discuss the actress' late father and how he affected Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt's connection with a new cashmere line, God's True Cashmere, was discussed in the interview, which was published on Goop's site. 

With Father’s Day approaching on June 19th, actors Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt caught up for a quick question and answer interview for Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand 'Goop', after talking about Brad Pitt's God's True Cashmere which was featured on Goop's website, Gwyneth asked Brad Pitt about the impact her father and director Bruce Paltrow had on him while the two of them were dating. The actress has mentioned in her previous interviews that her late father had a fondness for Brad Pitt. 

Brad Pitt answered that he could never forget the time when they were engaged and Bruce Paltrow walked up to him with his eyes full of tears and said to him that he never really realized what they meant when they say that you’re going to gain a son and added that he was gaining a son referring to the fact that they were married. Gwyneth once again asked Brad why he loved her father, even though the couple did not get married.

Reflecting on the relationship Brad Pitt shared with Bruce Paltrow, the actor said that he had a profound effect on him and shared that he still thinks about him and the way he fostered Gwyneth's voice, and independence, and carved the way for his children, while Brad described it as an important aspect of parenting which had a great impact on him. Brad went on to say that Bruce's trust and independence in his children, which allowed them to discover who they are and what they like and dislike, was admirable. The actor also recalled how much Bruce admired his daughter and said it was infectious to witness how much fun they had. Gwyneth added that her daughter has Bruce Paltrow's humor. 

Brad Pitt also said that Bruce Paltrow could be a tough guy if he needed to, but that was a rare occasion, adding that if someone was out of line, it would usually come with a little drop of wisdom and the man would let them make their own choice. The actor explained that it was just to offer the person wisdom and let them figure it out. And knowing to have that faith in your child, they'll get there when they get there. Brad Pitt said that they were always going to get Bruce Paltrow’s opinion and there was fairness to it, which he appreciated. Gwyneth Paltrow added that her father loved being that role model for people, especially for the ones he loved, and Brad Pitt was one of the people he loved.

Gwyneth Paltrow joked that she found out about the Brad she was supposed to marry, but it took her twenty years to find him. Gwyneth Paltrow married TV personality Brad Falchuk in 2018.

Gwyneth Paltrow was previously married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin from 2003 to 2016, and the ex-couple shared two children, Apple and Moses. Whereas Brad Pitt went on to marry Jennifer Aniston and later to Angelina Jolie, he said that it’s really of the ex-couple to have a friendship which is positive and healthy and added that he does love her, to which Gwyneth Paltrow said that she loves him too.

In 2003, Gwyneth Paltrow shared that she was really lucky to have spent time with Brad Pitt, somebody who was such a good person when she was messed up. The pictures of the couple from a vacation in the Caribbean went viral and that got to the actress, who mentioned that she felt responsible for the demise of their relationship, stating that she was the architect of her journey.
