Shawn Mendes is taking a needed break to heal.

Singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes, who recently postponed his three-week tour dates for his Wonder World Tour, has announced that he has decided to cancel the remaining dates of the tour.

Shawn Mendes shared a long post on his social media announcing that, as everyone was aware, he had to postpone the past few weeks of the show since he had mentioned that he was not prepared for the toll that touring and being on the road was going to take on his mental health. Shawn added further that he started the tour with excitement and enthusiasm to be able to finally get back to playing live music after a very long break because of the pandemic.

The statement further mentioned that the reality is that he was not prepared for how difficult it was going to be for him, especially after being away for a long time. Shawn Mendes added that after speaking and deliberating with his team and medical professionals, it has come to their attention that he needs to take the time he has never taken personally to ground himself and come back stronger than ever. The musician expressed great optimism that they will be able to resume the rest of the tour dates after some much-needed recuperation, but for the time being, Shawn Mendes is prioritizing his health. The remaining tour dates in North America and the UK/Europe, he said, must now be unfortunately announced.

Shawn Mendes added that this in no way implies that he won't continue to work on creating new songs, and he eagerly anticipates performing for his supporters and fans in the future. He acknowledged that everyone had been eagerly anticipating these events and that it had broken his heart to make the cancellation announcement, but he pledged to return soon. The singer continued by expressing gratitude to his followers for their love and support.

Kehlani wrote under the post that she is proud of him and added that he deserves a break. Jay Shetty also wrote that everyone is proud of him for doing what is right for him and his well-being. A lot of Shawn Mendes' fans also expressed their concern and support for the singer mentioning that they understand that he needs some time and they will wait for him until he feels better to play again in a stadium.

Just after the announcement of the cancellation of the tour, Shawn Mendes was spotted hiking in Los Angeles’ Runyon Canyon along with a group of friends and his manager. The eyewitness said that the singer was smiling and laughing and seemed in good spirits. This was not the first time Shawn Mendes was spotted after announcing a break from the tour and was spotted at the beach over the weekend, where he appeared to be having a nice time.

The Wonder world tour began on June 27 in Portland, Oregon, and has performances planned in the US and Canada until October. It was planned for the European leg to start in May 2023. The cancelation of the tour follows a post he published in April in which he expressed his belief and fear that his audience would judge him less if they knew the truth.

At the time, Shawn Mendes added that he is 23 years old and constantly feels like he is either flying or drowning, adding that perhaps this is what happens when you enter your 20s. He also said that he wants to present himself to the world completely, as his unique self, and not worry about what others might think of him, which he occasionally does.

According to a post by Shawn Mendes from April, despite his immense success, the singer still periodically feels as though he is failing. This makes it difficult for him to let go of the concept that perhaps he should stop caring about what other people think of him and feel free from that thinking. After acknowledging that he is overwhelmed and overexcited but would soon be OK, he reassured the crowd that he is okay.

In a previous post, Shawn Mendes also after the release of the song "It'll be Okay," admitted that he was having trouble with social media. He claimed that he had recently noticed a lot of videos and TikTok posts featuring emotional people crying and acting out, and he hypothesized that this might be because the song contains some truth and the listeners can relate to it. Shawn Mendes thanked his supporters for their steadfast love and encouragement.
