Nickelodeon star JoJo Siwa has been receiving the cold treatment from the Kids' channel for a while now. Earlier in April 2022, she revealed that she didn't receive an invite to the Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards.

Apart from being connected with the channel for a long time, Siwa has all the more reason to attend the ceremony as she is nominated for an award to be received at the award presentation ceremony. It almost seems like she was snubbed from the event.

Fans had been asking her relentlessly, wanting to know the reason for her absence from the show, even though she was to receive a probable award. The awards ceremony was held on April 9 in Santa Monica. California, last Saturday.

Explaining why she didn't attend the event for her Favorite Social Music Star award, the singer took onto Instagram and revealed that she was not invited. She shared that many fans had been reaching out to her asking why she was not present during the show.

She said that the answer for her absence was very "simple" and that she was not invited. The dancer did not know the reason for being snubbed from the show but only that she was excluded from the event.

To add to the long list of injustices that Nickelodeon has been committing against Siwa, it was revealed last year that the channel was not allowing Siwa exclusive rights to use her songs as per her wish. Back in September 2021, Siwa had announced how disconcerting the meddlesome behavior was of Nickelodeon.

The singer was holding her D.R.E.A.M. tour last year and wanted to add her songs from the film The J Team, the musical, into her tour. The film had 6 original songs written and sung by JoJo Siwa but Nickelodeon barred her from performing them in her concerts.

She voiced her anger as those were her original works in her own voice and were basically her property. Needless to say, holding the rights to these songs so that she couldn't perform them on the tour was totally unacceptable on the part of the channel.

Of course, Siwa had all the rights to perform her own songs and there was basically no ground for Nickelodeon to deny her the permission to use these songs. She shared that she feels like she is working as a brand for the company instead of as a real person with her wishes. She also said that the experience is "not fun."

For the part of Nickelodeon, the absence of Siwa would have been more shocking if the singer had won the award for the category she was nominated for. Unfortunately, she had to yield the title to Dixie D'Amelio.

Siwa attended the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards in 2019 the last time. The award ceremonies in the subsequent years were held online due to the pandemic and the Dance Moms alum had attended the virtual ceremony of the awards event in 2020 and 2021. Only six months later, the singer had to air her frustration with the company and its unfair means.

Many actors, celebrities, and fans came together to voice their collective disagreement against Nickelodeon for snubbing Siwa from the awards ceremony. Actor Brian Austin told Siwa that she is "too good" for the company and need not care about it.

Snooki tagged Nickelodeon, saying that she would call them out for the unfair treatment while Olivia Jade added that not inviting Siwa was a loss for the company.

Only a little while after Siwa had posted about Nickelodeon, she had to post another story on Instagram, calling out the company for its hypocrisy once again. The singer revealed that while she had only posted about being snubbed from the Kid's Choice Awards, Nickelodeon went on to use one of her songs, One Chance, and still did not send her the reveal.

She raged saying that while they were using her songs, they did not bother to invite her to the event. Siwa made it clear to her fans over and over that her absence from the awards show was not by choice, but that she really did not have an option.

Yet, the source of the company with insider information about the production of the events shared that the missing invite of JoJo Siwa was an "honest mistake" on the part of the company. Apparently, the event had to take place with only a meager amount of audience as per the COVID 19 protocols dictation. Hence, Siwa could not be added to the audience under the functioning of the error.

The singer however received the award of the Favorite Social Music Star back in 2019. Many fans on Twitter have been vocal about the fact that Nickelodeon's sudden cold shoulder towards the dancing star had something to do with her LGBTQ identity.

The singer has been open about her identity for some time and also passionately advocates for the rights of the queer community. The source of the production vehemently denied these rumors saying that Nickelodeon does not have anything against Siwa "as a person."

They also added that such speculations are "very upsetting" and very far away from the truth. They once again cleared that her not getting an invite was a mistake and that she deserved to be there at the award show.
