The actress who will be sharing the screen with The Weeknd in HBO's highly anticipated drama series, The Idol -- directed by Euphoria's Sam Levinson mentioned that on social media, the discomfort is heightened. She explained that people mistake celebrities for video game characters and say things to them that they would never say to their faces. She mentioned that she believes people are too shielded by screens and spend too much time on the world wide web, and that they begin to feel as if they are in an alternate dimension where individuals in the public eye are just animals in a zoo or statues, and that they may say whatever the fuck they would like to them, even if they wouldn't say it in person.

Lily continues that people on the internet get bold when they think no one is looking or reading, so she avoids reading all the comments since no matter what public figures do, they will never please everyone. She characterized how she can work her tail off to create work she is grateful for and hopes that people will interact with, yet there will always be people who don't like her, disagree with her, or think she is stupid or ugly or whatever. But, at the end of the day, Lily said, what makes a difference to her is what her friends and loved ones think of her.
