Shawn Mendes is taking a much-needed break.

Shawn Mendes, who is currently on his Wonder World tour, took to social media to announce that he will be postponing the upcoming show dates until further notice to focus on his mental health.

The 23-year-old performer stated in a statement on social media that it aches his heart to say that the upcoming three weeks of his gigs in Uncasville, Connecticut, will be postponed until further notice. According to Shawn Mendes, who has been on the road since he was 15 years old, being away from his friends and family has never been easy for him.

According to Shawn's statement, the singer said that he felt ready to return to touring after taking a few years off. However, that choice was made too soon, and he has now reached his breaking point due to the stress and toll of touring. In his last statement, Shawn Mendes said that he had chosen to take some time off to recover and take care of himself and his mental health in the first place after talking with his team and the medical specialists. As soon as there was an update, the singer pledged to inform his audience.

Shawn Mendes kicked off his "Wonder" world tour in Portland, Oregon on June 27th, 2022, with shows scheduled through October in the United States and Canada, which also includes a European leg that is scheduled to kick off in May 2023. Fans and friends of the artist offered meaningful and encouraging comments underneath the post, advising him to take care of himself and concentrate on getting better. Some of them have also said that pop stars are weak and lazy for not pushing themselves enough for the fans, but sincere supporters of Shawn Mendes have defended the singer, saying that he has been traveling since he was 15 and deserves a break and that they would wait for him to recover and return to the stage. They have in fact urged the singer to focus on healing and not worry because they are not going anywhere.

Shawn Mendes’ post about postponing the show to take care of himself and his mental health comes after a lengthy post he shared in April stating that he thinks and is afraid that if the audience could see the truth, they would think less of him. He added at the time that he is 23 years old and constantly feels like he is either flying or drowning and said that maybe that is what happens when you’re in your 20s and mentioned that he wants to show up his 100% to the world, his unique self, and not worry about what people might think about him, which he sometimes does.

Shawn Mendes’ post from April said that the singer sometimes struggles with thinking that maybe he should stop worrying about what people think about him and feel free from that thought, but it’s challenging because even with so much success, he still finds himself in the zone where he believes that he might be failing. Finally, he stated that he is overwhelmed and overstimulated before assuring the fans that he is fine.

Shawn Mendes has always been vocal about his mental health and urged fans to be more considerate and kind to each other because mental health is real. One of the reasons why Shawn Mendes’ fans love and admire him is because of the honesty that the singer portrays in the world and is not afraid to say that he is not okay. He has also opened up previously about how he was having a hard time with social media after he released the song "It’ll be Okay" and said that he had been seeing so many videos and TikTok of people crying and getting emotional and mentioned that he believes that it’s because the song has some truth in it and the people could relate to it. Shawn Mendes thanked his fans for the love and support and always for sticking by his side.

Sending love and support for Shawn Mendes' healing and recovery.
