James Gunn defends Chris Pratt.
Recently, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn came to the defend actor Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord/Peter Quill in the movie, after a fan questioned the director about why Marvel and Disney were working with the actor.
The Twitter user went ahead to insist that the production should replace Chris Pratt with Patrick Wilson, but the director of the movie, James Gunn, came to the defense of the actor with whom he has worked and have developed a close working bond and replied to the user by stating that why should the production replace Chris Pratt? He mentioned further that just because someone started a false rumor or started to web an utterly false belief against the actor, he cannot be replaced from a job he's suited for.
Is it a good enough justification to change the actor from a part he is suited for because of something someone else said you about him that isn't even true? James Gunn added in his tweet reply. James continued by saying that the actor will never be replaced as Star-Lord because he suits the role best, but if he ever leaves, the entire team will follow him.
One of the users asked James Gunn if he was okay with Chris Pratt's activities of allegedly expressing homophobic ideas, to which the director replied that he is not and he was aware of Chris Pratt's church and accused the fan of hearsay and stressed that it was not accurate.
So, according to James Gunn, these rumors are something that the audience has heard from someone who has heard from someone who attends Chris' church, and now the public has opted to believe the worst thing they've heard or read online about a celebrity.
Over the past couple of years, Chris Pratt has been named the "worst Chris" in the industry (which his co-actors have defended him for) is a member of a church that is linked to a church that promotes anti-LGBTQ+ views and the actor has been called out for his political stances after not being a part of Democratic gatherings. All of these incidents have lead to fans of Marvel Cinematic Universe to take to their social media and request the production to replace the actor as Star-Lord. (But it ain't happening anytime soon)
Chris Pratt is a member of Zoe Church, according to an internet author. Zoe Church was formed by former Hillsong preacher Chad Veach, who previously directed a film that depicted same-sex attraction as sexual brokenness, causing controversy. Chris Pratt also faced flak for posting an early birthday wish for his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger in a touching post that seemed to criticize his previous wife Anna Faris and their disabled son, who was delivered prematurely. Audience did not like the way he tried to shade Anna Faris and mentioned that she deserved way better than Chris Pratt but the actress has not yet commented on the matter.
Actor Elliot Page had previously chastised the actor on social media (via Uproxx), stating that if an individual is prominent actor and belong to an organization that condemns a group of people, don't be shocked if someone simply asks why it hasn't been addressed. Finally, Elliot stated that there are no two sides of being anti-LGBTQ, that is simply wrong and there is nothing more that can be said.
At the time, Chris Pratt said that his faith is important to him but the church does not define him or his life and he is no spokesperson for any church or group of people. The actor fired back at Elliot's comments and said that his values define who he is and the world needs less hate at the moment. He concluded that he is a man who believes that everyone is entitled to love whoever they want to be free from the judgment of society and the people around them.
Since 2013, director James Gunn and actor Chris Pratt have collaborated on the Guardians of the Galaxy films, as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, which has resulted in a tight working relationship. This elevates James Gunn to the point where he knows the actor better than the folks on the internet. The duo returns for a special, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and later for the Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 which is expected to hit theaters in May of next year.
For Chris Pratt now the audience will soon see him in Jurassic World: Dominion, which arrives in theaters on June 10, and he returns as Star-Lord in Thor: Love and Thunder, which debuts on July 8.
