Bonnie Bennett will never return to cast a spell.
Kat Graham, who played the character of teenage witch Bonnie Bennett in the successful and popular show The Vampire Diaries, recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight at at iHeartRadio Wango Tango and shared about her future and if she’d ever return to the franchise.
The actress-singer said that she played Bonnie Bennett for eight years on the show, which means eight years of her life she had given to the character, which was loved and appreciated by the audience. On asking if she’d return if the reboot happens, Kat Graham said that she would not like to reprise her role as the witch because she had spent so much time as a character than she had spent as being herself.
Kat Graham added that she is still that girl who’d run around rogue, trying to play gigs, and she finally felt like with all the work she had put in, she was almost playing catchup in a weird way as an artist. During the interview, Kat Graham also mentioned that she has five movies out this year, and her second album dropped on Friday and is being appreciated by the audience, and added that she is now focusing on making music, working on different characters, and activism. The actress added that the fans across the world had given so much love and support to the show, and she was grateful that fans saw how much she gave to the show, her eight years, and everything she poured into playing Bonnie Bennett.
Kat Graham said that she sacrificed a lot of her family time, even her time working with the UN refugee agency and activism which she had to put on hold while she filmed. She expressed that she is very grateful and feels blessed that the show was such a huge success and people love it and added that she grew from that show and become who she is but yeah nothing is going to make Bonnie Bennett return to Mystic Falls.
While sharing about their career, Kat Graham added that she wants to do so much more both as an artist and as a human being and she is open to herself and the different characters she wants to play on-screen. She desires to be back in the field, and do her work with refugees and human rights work along with making music and dance. Kat Graham feels that there is so much left for her to do and contribute to the betterment of the world and she’d do everything in her power to do that.
In 2021, the actress shared a similar sentiment when asked about the possibility of a reunion and added that she feels like she has learned her lessons from that show. Kat added that she played Bonnie for eight years on the show and if one can't get what they need out of a character in eight years, then she does not think it's going to work. She concluded that she is a soul person and she does not feel that reprising her role is something that she is looking forward to.
Kat Graham’s latest project is her new album ‘Long Hot Summer’ in partnership with GLAAD. She shared that it’s Pride Month, so they have been doing a bunch of festivals and she is excited and described her album as the most explosive record yet and mentioned that she has had a great response so far which made her surprised because she has released only a few records in her past ten years of making music but she is happy that people are loving what they are listening. According to Kat Graham, Long Hot Summer is about empowerment and self-love and embracing individuality and the actress-singer added that she felt people needed it.
