Since ‘How I Met Your Father’ premiered, the audience has been waiting eagerly for Barney Stinson played by actor Neil Patrick Harris on ‘How I Met Your Mother’ to make an appearance but according to the reports, the audience to keep waiting.

In a recent conversation with Hilary Duff who plays the main lead in Hulu’s spinoff series, ‘How I Met Your Father’, Neil Patrick Harris shared how his character would not be a fit for the show if we look at the current scenario. He wrote in his Wondercade newsletter, "As for coming on your show (insert joke here), I worry, Barney's antics, his overt delusions of grandeur, would likely get everyone in trouble. So, unless he's changed his ways or joined a nunnery (insert an insert joke here), not sure if it's in anyone's best interest."

Hilary Duff seems to agree with Neil Patrick Harris on his take on his character would only make an appearance on the spinoff series if his character’s arc is changed or evolved according to the current situations. Hilary added, "I'm not sure how you feel about this, but I'm pretty sure Barney would … be in jail in 2022. Since we're living in the world of females coming into power, I'm assuming that's why they made him a woman" in the form of the Barney-esque character Valentina played by actress Francia Raisa”.

Neil Patrick Harris played Barney Stinson from 2005 to 2014 on ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and was labeled as a serial playboy and notorious womanizer. The audience has appreciated Hulu’s spin-off series, ‘How I Met Your Father’ as it is LGBTQ+ inclusive and their main cast includes an out lesbian character named Ellen. Actress Hilary Duff recently shared with Out, "What's making our show really special is that we're covering all the ground of sexuality and gender and race and topics that are in the forefront right now and that are kind of getting their moment to be. All of those topics need more attention right now and we're getting to play with that on-screen, and it's been so fun."

Queer actress Tien Tran who plays Ellen on the show shared, "It is so refreshing to get to be able to see a friend group that is very reflective of what we in our own lives experience every day. Ellen is so special because, you know, as someone who is queer, to get to play a queer character who is just one of the friends, who doesn't have to teach anyone anything, who doesn't have to go through some sort of traumatic coming out...those stories are so important. But I also think it's so exciting to just normalize the fact that this woman is trying to figure out how to date and has an amazing friend group that is trying to support her in all her weird ways. And it's not because she's gay, it's because she's like a weirdo that says whatever thing comes to her mind. So I think it's just very exciting that they all get to exist without questioning or challenging each other's identities in a way that doesn't feel fraught."

The show is directed by Pamela Fryman who previously shared with variety on how they were refreshing the sitcom with technology and how much fun they had with creating the environment. She explained, “I was able to spend the day in Burbank shooting a scene on the Brooklyn Bridge. The logistics and price tag of shooting on location (even when there's not a pandemic) would have made this scene impossible — but thanks to this new technology the scene is in the can."

How I Met Your Father includes Hilary Duff, Kim Cattrall, Josh Peck, Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, Suraj Sharma, and Brandon Micheal. Talking about Kim Cattrall who is playing the older and present-day version of Hilary Duff’s character Sophie, Hilary Duff shared with Entertainment Tonight, “She plays all the flash forwards, and she’s just incredible—like, really incredible. She’s just a force, but she’s so kind. She’s so warm, and I’m so excited to have her on board, truly. It’s a really cool show, and I’m really proud of it and happy to have someone like her stepping on in. Honestly, we kind of look alike. I never realized it, but when we were sitting there, I was like, ‘I can see this, and God, I hope I look like you!'”

The audience was excited to see the cast in an apartment that once belonged to Marshall, Lily, and Ted in How I Met Your Mother. How I Met Your Father drops new episodes Tuesdays on Hulu.
