Shia LaBeouf was dropped from the film 'Don't Worry Darling.'

Olivia Wilde, during an interview with Variety, shared that while she cast Florence Pugh as her female lead, they both teamed up to find her male lead. They both wanted Harry Styles to be the one, but because he was touring and unavailable at the time, actor Shia LaBeouf was finalized to play Jack in the movie. 

But in 2020, as the production for the movie started, Olivia Wilde decided to drop Shia LaBeouf from the movie. The reasons that were cited by the studio were scheduling conflicts, but now Olivia Wilde has addressed why the decision was made. According to reports by Variety at the time, Shia was fired because he exhibited poor behavior and his style clashed with the cast and crew of the movie.

Shia LaBeouf's method, she claimed, was incompatible with the values she wanted for her films even though she is a fan of his work. Olivia said that she thinks that the greatest approach to getting people to do their best work is to create a secure, trusting environment. Shia LaBeouf's method in some ways demands confrontational energy, and she doesn't think it is conducive to the best performances. She concluded by asserting that she must safeguard the performers and the production. She had to do it. The director's initial choice, Harry Styles, eventually received the role of Jack when she took the initiative to persuade him to quit.

It's interesting to note that when Shia left the film, his ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs sued him for sexual battery a few months later, and the following month, he parted ways with his agency, CAA, and checked himself into an inpatient facility. FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit against the actor, accusing him of unrelenting abuse. In an interview with The Times, she said that her experience with Shia was the worst thing she had ever gone through and that she doesn't believe anyone anticipated that something similar would occur to her. However, she added that it can happen to anyone. FKA Twigs separated from the actor in 2019 with the aid of a therapist after dating him for more than a year.

Olivia Wilde said that after reading and knowing about everything, a lot of it had troubled her in terms of his behavior, but she wished him health and evolution because she said that she believes in restorative justice. She added that for the film, what they were looking for and needed was incredibly supportive energy. In particular, with a movie like this, Olivia knew that she was going to be asking Florence to be in very vulnerable situations, and her priority was to make her feel safe and making her feel supported.

Shia LaBeouf, at the time when accusations from FKA Twigs were brought to light, said that he was in no position to tell anyone how his behavior made them feel and added that he had no excuses for his alcoholism or aggression, only rationalization. Shia added that he has been abusive to himself and everyone around him for years, and he has a history of hurting people closest to him, and he is ashamed of that and apologized to the ones he hurt.
