During a recent interview with Nylon, singer Avril Lavigne spoke about her relationship with Mod Sun, new music, and much more.
Avril Lavigne, who is ready to release her seventh studio album, shared that she is still doing things her way and adds that there is nothing that she wishes she had done differently in her career. She adds, "I do look back and think some things are funny. I didn’t have a stylist, and I wore my own clothes out of my suitcase for a year, over and over. I didn’t have makeup and hair people. Furthermore, I was just like, straight, dirty, rock hair. But also, that’s what made me, me. "
In her interview, the singer stated that she handles her social media on her own and cannot have others do it for her because the team comes up with cheesy or bad ideas that she does not like. Avril Lavigne added, "I’m really hands-on and have to come up with it all. I’ve been planning out all the posts and stuff for today".
Furthermore, she mentioned that she moved to Malibu after getting heartbroken and for a clean start. She said, "Honestly, I believed in love. And then I went through the ringer with it. Then I finally got back on my feet and had a relationship, only to get fucked over again. I was just like, I can’t believe that I’ve been hurt or mistreated by this many people. I need a break from relationships. I feel like I’ve had the wind knocked out of me over and over. I’m fucking sick of it. I need to take care of myself right now. ’ So I bought a house, and I wasn’t waiting for a guy to start a future with. I was like, "I’m doing this for me now." I’m the only person, I’m the only one I can rely on. "
Avril started working with producers John Feldman and Mod Sun along with Travis Barker, but in the process, she fell in love with Mod Sun. Their relationship is described by her as a free-spirited, pop-punk rocker. Avril said she resisted falling in love with Mod Sun as much as she could, or in her words, "the most I’ve ever tried to." The new budding romance while rehashing the pain from the previous heartbreak led Avril to write the most vulnerable song on her album, which she described as the "closest thing you’ll find to a ballad on the rock-fueled tracklist." She said, "I wrote that one on my own. It was like, OK, don’t tell me you love me unless you mean it. Because I don’t want to get fucked up again".
Before the pair went official with their relationship, Avril Lavigne was married to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger and Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley, and when her marriage came to an end with both of them, the singer decided to swear romance off her life. Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun appeared on the latter’s "Flames", a song for his album, "Internet Killed the Rockstar." Their instant connection was noticed and the rumors of the two datings started to swirl around.
Avril and Mod made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards, and later that month, the singer wished the punk queen birthday with an adorable caption that read, "Happy birthday to my soulmate, the love of my life, my favorite person in the world, my angel." To the most radiant and graceful woman I've ever laid eyes on, you have made my dreams come true in so many ways. You are my calm in the chaos and my shelter from the storm. Avril Lavigne describes her upcoming album as light and happy, even though it has songs about heartbreak and breakups. She added, "But it’s also anthemic, and it’s powerful, and it has a positive message for people to stand up for themselves, to have self-worth." It’s the album. During her recent appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show, Avril Lavigne shared, "I took a four-year break, and then I put out an album, and I was on tour. Avril Lavigne is soon going to be on tour as well and talking about her world tour, she recalled her first tour and shared with Nylon, "I think about my first album all the time. It was my first tour, my first time hearing myself on the radio. It was just such a big part of my life. My whole life has just been my career. It’s nice to see other female artists coming into it, working on music like this in a male-dominated world". Talking about the VMAs, Avril recalled that for her second record, Kelly Osbourne and Avril Lavigne went on dates and hung out after the show. Avril's new single 'Bite Me' was recently released which was received with a positive response stating that the punk queen is back!
