On Wednesday, rapper A$AP Rocky was arrested at the Los Angeles International airport shortly after he returned home from his vacation in Barbados, with his pop singer and entrepreneur girlfriend Rihanna who is pregnant at the moment. They announced the pregnancy in January. A$AP Rocky was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon stemming from an alleged shooting last year according to reports. 

The LAPD noted that A$AP Rocky allegedly got into an argument with an associate on November 6, 2021, and their argument escalated to the point where A$AP Rocky fired a handgun at the victim that left him with minor injuries from the incident. According to sources, A$AP Rocky and two other men fled the scene and did not try to help him.

A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was later released after three-four hours of his arrest on bail of $550,000 and is expected to appear in court on August 17th. According to NBC News, the victim told the police that A$AP Rocky, who was with two other people, approached him with a handgun on the street in the Hollywood area of Selma Avenue and Argyle Avenue and shot him three to four times, one of which grazed his left hand. The shooting was not reported in the media. 

A$AP Rocky’s lawyer, Alan Jackson, confirmed that he had been arrested but did not make any further comments (before he was released on bail). A source close to the couple stated that this is the last thing Rihanna needs right now. She wants to be mellow, relaxed, and focus her attention on the arrival of her baby. The arrest was the last thing she thought would be coming their way after the cheating rumors circled their relationship.

This was not the first time that A$AP Rocky got into trouble with the authorities. 

A$AP Rocky was previously charged with an attempted murder as a teenager after he fired a gun at a man who according to the rapper attempted to intimidate him when he was 16 years old drug dealer. The rapper confessed to the charges and admitted that he believed that the victim was reaching for a weapon of his own. A$AP Rocky served jail time. The charges were eventually reduced against him.

In 2019, A$AP Rocky was found guilty for his part in a Stockholm street fight against Mustafa Jafari that became a closely watched international incident that also involved then President Donald Trump, who tried to secure his release from prison as he awaited trial.

A $AP Rocky along with two members of his circle were found guilty of kicking and beating a 19-year-old man after an altercation that erupted between them and later stated that they acted in self-defense, but the court rejected their argument. A$AP Rocky was although not sentenced to any jail time as he had already spent more than a month in Swedish detention waiting for the trial.

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna announced in January that they were expecting a baby together, and recently, during a cover story shoot for Vogue, Rihanna shared that A$AP Rocky during the pandemic became her family and she could do any adventure with him by her side. The source explained that Rihanna was not focused on having a baby but after being with A$AP Rocky, she started to think about it and in her interview, she mentioned that the pregnancy was not planned but they did not plan against it either.

Sources revealed that Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are very happy with the news and she is loving all the changes her body is going through and is embracing them to the fullest.
