Hayden Panettiere is opening up about the challenges with opioids and alcohol addiction and how they went on to destroy her career and life to a point. 

In a recent interview with People magazine, actress Hayden Panettiere, best known for her role in Nashville and Scream, revealed that she was on top of her career when her self- destructive habits sabotaged everything. She also revealed that she had spent years dealt battling addiction as well as postpartum depression and stated that she had thought that she had hit rock bottom, but then another door opened and trapped her.

Hayden Panettiere, who shares a 7-year-old daughter, Kaya, with ex-Wladimir Klitschko, mentioned that she was determined to ask for help and had put in a lot of effort and work on herself, and she had to be willing, to be honest with herself, she said. With a lot of trauma therapy and inpatient treatment within the last year, the actress Hayden Panettiere returned to the set to reprise her role as Kirby Reed in the next Scream movie and is now pouring her heart into working with Hoplon International.

Hoplon International is a charity that Hayden Panettiere founded in March whose mission is to raise funds for Ukraine as the country endures its fifth month of war against Russia.Talking about her sobriety, Hayden Panettiere said that the journey had a lot of ups and downs but she does not regret even the ugliest things that have happened to her and added that she feels accomplished at the moment and mentioned that she feels that she got another chance.

In an interview with the magazine, Hayden Panettiere revealed that she was 15 years old when someone on her team offered her "happy pills" before she walked the red carpet. She said they were given to her to keep her upbeat during the interviews, but she was too young to understand that doing so was inappropriate or what those happy pills could do to her. While her career was thriving, Hayden Panettiere admitted that she occasionally used painkillers and drank alcohol.

Hayden said that her one saving grace was the fact that she was not messy or troublesome while filming and working, but she also acknowledged that things did get out of hand outside the sets as she started to grow on drugs and alcohol which eventually became a need. Hayden Panettiere played the troubled country singer Juliette Barnes in Nashville, which debuted in 2014. Her real-life pregnancy was also shown in the program, but the public soon realized that the character she played on-screen was quite close to her reality.

Talking about her time in Nashville, Hayden Panettiere admitted that those years were difficult for her because she was already experiencing severe postpartum depression at the time of her daughter's birth. She also said that many of the storylines from both her real life and the characters she portrayed on television, such as alcoholism and postpartum depression, hit close to home for her. The actress sought treatment for her melancholy but soon discovered that she needed more booze to get through the day than she had anticipated. She said that she never had the feeling that she wanted to harm her child, but she did not feel like spending time with her and that she called the gray color in her life.

Hayden Panettiere revealed that she would sneak away to drink and her relationship with her ex also started to crumble as he did not want to be around her, she did not want to be around her, but alcohol and opiates were doing their job of making her feel happy for a moment and said that there was a cycle of self-destruction and she was riding it. She further mentioned that she would have the shakes when she would woke up and could only function by sipping alcohol. When Nashville ended in 2018, Hayden Panettiere made the hardest decision of her life, which was to send her daughter Kaya to live with her father in Ukraine. She said that it was really hard on her but she wanted to be a good mother to her and sometimes that meant letting her go.

Eventually, Hayden Panettiere’s challenges with alcohol worsened, and she was hospitalized after she suffered from jaundice, and doctors told her that she might not recover as easily as she thought she could. She made a conscious choice to enter rehab for eight months and found tools to get over the hump of addiction, but she recently found peace with her life and stated that she is always checking in with herself and maintaining how she has been since she got out of rehab.

Hayden Panettiere finally added that she is grateful that she is alive and is a part of the world again and will never take it for granted. The actress is sober, happy and looking forward to start working once again.
