Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas are considered as one of the most well-loved couples in the industry and will be celebrating their third anniversary on December 2nd, 2021. The actress recently opened up about the struggles of long-distance marriage and how the two workaholics make it work.
In a recent virtual interview with InStyle magazine’s Laura Brown, Priyanka Chopra Jonas shared that due to her work commitments, she has spent almost the entire year in London and it has been really hard for her to stay away from her husband, Nick Jonas. The couple, who got married in 2018 in Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur, India; lives in Los Angeles, while the actress also has a place in London. Priyanka, on the other hand, revealed that Nick would fly from Los Angeles to London just to spend time with his wife, even if it was just for dinner.
The actress added, "This year has been really tough. It was really, really tough to be away from home for an entire year, especially at a time when you couldn't travel to see your family. I was just alone. Just the uncertainty of my mom and my brother being in India, my husband being in America while I was in the U.K. It just had so much uncertainty, and that, to me, was terrifying. Not being able to just get on a flight and travel was terrifying, just in case something went wrong or something happened. But thankfully, you know, everyone was okay. "
Priyanka also revealed further in the interview that quarantine rules just added to their misery, as they had to quarantine a lot. Explaining the situation, Priyanka said, "We didn't have a dramatic separation, but because he was in and out, we had to be really careful. He had to quarantine, and I had to quarantine whenever we saw each other at that time. And that's usually not conducive to a production schedule because you don't really have much time. You have, like, two days off. "
The actress, however, added that they talk to each other all the time and they understand each other’s hearts and prioritize each other. Priyanka mentioned that the two of them understand that they have individual careers and are clear about not interfering in each other’s professional lives because "we’re always partners and assets." The actress added, "We'll have an opinion on each other's things, we'll be each other's champions, but those decisions are predominantly for both of us to take, because we've built our careers by ourselves for such a long time."
Former Miss World turned actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas added to the conversation that both Nick and she acknowledge the fact that both of them need to keep a check on one another and know how they feel, and added that Nick knows how to make it work. She added, "Like I said, this year was hard for me being in London. He would just drop everything—come in for even just a day—just to have dinner with me and fly back. Stuff like that, you just have to prioritise each other and then everything feels right. "
The actress had previously shared on Victoria’s Secret VS Voices Podcast in October, "I'm used to being in trailers that don't move, right? As an actor, you're not supposed to sleep in a trailer or eat in a trailer. I only know that you do that on a road trip, not when you're working and have to wake up and do your job. But my husband was convinced, and we did it in Europe, and I was like, "This... is so amazing." It's like a home on wheels, and I actually slept like a baby. I felt like I had rocked to sleep. "
Being married to a Bollywood actress surely must have had a hint of Bollywood movies at Nick and Priyanka's home. In his recent interview with Khaleej Times, the singer-songwriter and actor, Nick Jonas hinted that if given a chance, he’d surely make his way into a Bollywood movie. He said, "I love Bollywood films—I’ve gotten more familiar in the last couple of years after being with my wife; it’s certainly something that I would be interested in doing. I’ve made a lot of friends now in that industry, and I think it’s just a phenomenal film industry. The work they do is very inspiring, and if the right thing comes up, who knows? Maybe I’d jump in! " The couple had previously shared that they both love to listen to Bollywood music and that it’s a great kind of music to dance to.
The couple was recently spotted at the 2021 British Fashion Awards in London and on the Netflix special ‘The Jonas Brothers Family Roast’. At the Fashion Awards, Priyanka wore a quirky outfit by London-based designer Richard Quinn’s label. Her floral ensemble was completed by a blazer with a flowing cape-like train, built-in gloves, and a twisted top with a plunging neckline. Her diamond necklaces and drop earrings completed her ensemble. On the other hand, Nick Jonas wore Maison Margiela's enormous suit and bright red split-toe boots.
