Ricky Martin is fighting back.
Singer Ricky Martin has reportedly filed a $20 million lawsuit against his nephew, Dennis Sanchez Martin, who has falsely accused him of sexual abuse.
Dennis Sanchez Martin, who had initially filed a lawsuit against Ricky Martin after obtaining a temporary restraining order in San Juan, Puerto Rico, stated that they were in a relationship and he was abused psychologically and physically. Dennis said that when he had tried to break up with Ricky Martin, he would not accept it and Dennis had seen him lingering around his house, which scared him for his life. But he later decided to withdraw his case, and the judge finally dismissed the temporary restraining order.
Ricky Martin’s attorney said that the situation has continued despite Dennis Sanchez Martin withdrawing his case, which was based on falsehoods during which he had admitted under oath that he was never sexually assaulted by Ricky Martin. According to the documents, Dennis Sanchez Martin initially made claims against the singer after he did not follow Dennis Sanchez Martin on social media and ignored his requests to make a social media page for Ricky Martin’s children.
Dennis Sanchez Martin later published Ricky Martin’s number online, which forced him to change it, and months later, Dennis Sanchez Martin filed a lawsuit against the singer and obtained a temporary restraining order citing the reason as sexual abuse. The temporary restraining order expired on July 21 and Ricky Martin was summoned on July 4th to appear in court to share his side of the story.
It was reported that Dennis Sanchez Martin reached out to Ricky Martin’s lawyers in an attempt to negotiate an economic benefit in exchange for withdrawing his request, but Ricky Martin’s lawyer did not oblige his request as they had faith in Ricky Martin. On July 21, Dennis Sanchez Martin, through his attorney, withdrew his case.
Ricky Martin’s lawyer further mentioned that Dennis Sanchez Martin filed a lawsuit based on malice and animosity against Ricky Martin and for the mere fact that he failed to answer his multiple messages. The attorneys said that Dennis Sanchez Martin had threatened and extorted Ricky Martin that unless he was economically compensated, he would continue to carry on with his campaign to assassinate Ricky Martin’s reputation and integrity through false and malicious imputation. Ricky Martin’s lawyer said that because of Dennis Sanchez Martin’s false and baseless accusations, the singer has lost out on a multimillion-dollar contract as present and future artist projects have been pulled out.
Ricky Martin has filed a $20 million lawsuit against Sanchez alleging extortion, malicious prosecution, rights abuse, and damages. Ricky Martin is requesting an order for Dennis Sanchez to cease contacting him. The lawsuit also claims that prior to the allegations and the restraining order, Dennis Sanchez texted the singer up to ten times per day for months and Ricky Martin describe that the texts were written by a "maladjusted individual." The performer further asserts that Dennis Sanchez's alleged actions has caused him and his family to feel unsafe in Puerto Rico, where he lives with spouse Jwan Yosef and children Valentino, Matteo, and Lucia, respectively.
Ricky Martin, after the judge announced that Dennis had decided to withdraw the case, shared that for two weeks, he was not allowed to defend himself because he was following the procedure where the law obligated him to not talk until he was in front of the judge. The charges were untrue, he said, thank God, but he would still tell everyone the truth. He does not want this to happen to anyone since it has been so excruciatingly painful and tragic for him, his family, and his friends. The musician dismissed Dennis Sanchez's allegations as ridiculous but didn't seem to have any animosity toward the cousin who, according to the artist, his crew, and half-brother Eric Martin, has mental health problems. Ricky Martin sent his good wishes for him and hoped he could get the support he requires to begin a new life full of love, truth, and joy without harming anybody else.
Ricky went on to say that he is eager to get back on stage, in front of the cameras, and entertain again because that is what he does best. The Grammy winner closed his speech by expressing gratitude to his family, fans, and all of his supporters. He said that the fans have no clue about the power they provided him with every social media comment they made in favor of him.
