Chadwick Boseman honored with Disney Legend Award.

Chadwick Boseman’s brother, Derrick Boseman, accepted the late actor’s Disney Legend Honor at D23 Expo on Friday alongside Grey’s Anatomy stars Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey, Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson from Black-ish, and the cast of Frozen, including Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, and more.

According to Variety, Derrick Boseman said while accepting the honor that when he heard that Disney wanted to honor Chadwick, the first word that came to his mind was the word "honor. Derrick added that as he thinks about his brother and the honor that is being bestowed upon him, he wishes that he was here to receive it, and Chadwick's not being here has been a point of immense pain for his family.

Derrick continued that as he thinks about him, he thinks about how the actor had honored their parents, his family, and his friends and made sure that his friends had good careers along with honoring all the contracts that he signed. Derrick added that Chadwick Boseman honored them with his blood, sweat, and tears as he played the roles and was undergoing chemotherapy at the same time. The late actor’s brother called him an amazing person and added that in Chadwick’s case, it seems that life is imitating art and if people would pay attention to this thing called storytelling, a story is being told to everyone and thanked everyone for honoring his brother.

Derrick said that he wants to say that Chadwick Boseman is everyone's favorite. Their mom and dad will always love him. He also mentioned to him that their mom and dad are legends because it takes a king and queen to create a king. At the 2022 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Chadwick Boseman, who died in August 2020 at the age of 43 after silently fighting colon cancer, received the prize for his performance as Star-Lord T'Challa in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film "What If...?"

Simone Ledward Boseman collected the honor on his behalf at the ceremony, which took place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. She acknowledged that she was in awe of Chadwick's drive and determination after learning that he had been nominated for the prize and began reflecting on all that was happening while he was recording, in the world, and our own world.

Simone continued that one of his final projects involved not only revisiting a character who was important to him, his career, and the world, but also an exploration of something new and a look into a new possible future, especially in light of all he said about the meaning of life and discovering why you are on the planet at this particular time. What if I'm the one who's the object of the world's conspiracies? She said that one must be ready to ask that question before one can understand their mission. At the end of her remarks, Simone expressed her sincere gratitude for the distinction and said that she is honored on Chadwick's behalf.

Other than Chadwick Boseman, F. Murray Abraham was nominated for Moon Knight, Jeffrey Wright was nominated for What If...?, Julie Andrews was nominated for Bridgerton, Maya Rudolph was nominated for Big Mouth, Stanley Tucci was nominated for Central Park, and finally Jessica Walter was nominated for Archer under the same category. Chadwick Boseman received his first Emmy nomination and triumph.

Black Panther, a 2018 film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe starring late actor Chadwick Boseman as King T'Challa/Black Panther, will be followed up in November by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which will feature a large portion of the original cast and co-writer/director Ryan Coogler.
