Dwayne Johnson has an announcement to make.

Actor Dwayne Johnson, who recently starred as Black Adam in DC Universe, shared on Tuesday that there is not going to be a sequel to Black Adam.

Dwayne Johnson took to Twitter to announce that the recently appointed DC co-CEO, James Gunn, had connected with him and disclosed that Black Adam won't be their first chapter of telling a story. However, the actor stated that DC and Seven Bucks have communicated with him and assured him that they would like to continue uncovering the character of Black Adam in the most valuable way which can be used in future DC multi-verse chapters.

The actor went on to say that he and James Gunn have known each other for years and they have consistently rooted for one another to succeed, adding that nothing is going to change after this decision as well. Dwayne mentioned that he will always root for the success of DC (and Marvel) no matter what. Dwayne stated that the viewers and his fans recognize him, that he has a thick skin, that people respect him, and that his fans can always count on him to be direct with his words.

Dwayne stated that James Gunn and the DC leadership's decision represents their vision of the DCU thru all their imaginative lens, and after fifteen years of ceaseless hard work to eventually make Black Adam, he is very grateful for the film they were capable of delivering to fans all over the world. The actor said that he will always reflect on fans' reactions to the film with immense gratitude, humbleness, and love. The actor stated that they exceeded all expectations, and he wishes to express his gratitude to his ardent and vocal Black Adam/Super Hero genre fans, stating that he loves them and will always pay heed to them and do his finest.

The news that Black Adam will not get a sequel comes after Henry Cavill announced that he will no longer be reprising the role of Superman after announcing his come back in October, due to the new and creative vision of James Gunn and Peter Safran. In response to Henry Cavill's exit from the DC Universe, James Gunn stated that he and Peter Safran have a universe to build and wish everyone and everything involved with the new universe the best of luck. James Gunn clarified that they are moving forward in a direction where they will be exploring the life of Superman in his early days which is why Henry Cavill won't be playing Superman.

James Gunn and Peter Safran recently faced a significant amount of criticism from hardcore DC fans following Henry Cavill's departure and rumors that there was no longer a Wonder Woman 3 in the works, so they released a statement to clarify their position. He stated that one of the factors Peter and he were aware of when they decided to take over as heads of DC Studios was that a certain minority of people online could well be, to put it mildly, thunderous and impolite. He went on to say that their decisions for the DC Universe are based on what they think is best for the story and the DC characters, which have been around for nearly 85 years.

According to the filmmaker's statement, whether the choices are good or bad, they are based on pure heart and soul and truthfulness, and always with a story in mind. James Gunn went on to say that while no one enjoys being bullied or made fun of, they have endured a lot worse, and the disparaging public outcry will never, ever influence their decisions. James said that both of them knew there would be tension when they took over, and they knew they'd be compelled to make difficult and therefore not judgments quite often, especially given the fluctuating nature of what came before them. The filmmaker concludes that this is minuscule in comparison to their other work as artists and custodians in creating a diverse and wonderful future for DC.

They understand that they will not be capable of pleasing everybody all of the time, yet they can say with certainty that every action they take will be done in the service of the story and the DC characters that they understand people love and have idolized their entire lives, according to James Gunn. In terms of more DCU future answers, James stated that the team is looking to give these characters and their stories the time and consideration they deserve and that they will continue to have a lot of questions to ask and answers to.
