Kim Kardashian has spoken out yet again in support of Marilyn Monroe's dress that she donned at the Met Gala 2022.
Kim Kardashian recently chatted with Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb of the Today program about her newly launched 9-step skincare along with her current controversy over her Met Gala outfit, for which she claimed she shed 16 pounds. Kim Kardashian stated that she saw it as a role and that it was crucial to her since she wanted to wear the outfit.
Kim Kardashian allegedly shed 16 pounds in three weeks with a strict healthy diet and workouts to fit into Marilyn Monroe's 1962 gown, which she wore to former President John F. Kennedy's birthday party. She shared at the Met Gala red carpet that she has not eaten any carbs in three weeks. Some people were critical of Kim Kardashian's decision to go carb-free for three weeks and work out hard to walk the red carpet in the outfit, but she saw the Met Gala appearance as just as much of a performance as any acting job.
Kim Kardashian, who walked the red carpet with her now-boyfriend Pete Davidson, stated earlier this month in an interview with the New York Times and said if Christian Bale can do it for a movie part and it is fine, then Renée Zellweger, who gained weight for a role, was acceptable but society refused to accept it when she did it. Kim Kardashian said that it was all the same to her and that she wasn't asking or advocating anything that would help people lose weight in a short amount of time, since she wasn't.
In conversation with Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, Kim Kardashian said that in no way did she try to harm herself, but in fact, those three weeks helped her to understand a lot about her lifestyle and health, and added that since then she has continued to eat healthily and she is now 21 pounds down. Kim clarified that she is not trying to lose weight, but now she has more energy than ever and she tries to cut out sugar and junk food, which has changed her life for good. She added that she simply changed her lifestyle, which eventually benefitted her a lot.
Last week, reports circulated on social media that Kim Kardashian had damaged the iconic Marilyn Monroe's dress for her MET GALA 2022 look, with before and after photos showing that the dress had been stretched and ripped the fabric seams, but Ripley's Believe It or Not! had debunked the claims. The authorities stated that in no way was the dress alone with Kim Kardashian as one of the members of the museum was always with her and they had spoken to her that if there was any way the members felt that the dress was in danger or she was uncomfortable, they would ask Kim Kardashian to take it off.
It was also reported that she had only worn the original dress to the stairs, and as soon as she was inside the hall, she changed into the replica of the dress because she knew how important that dress was to American history and she would never try to harm or damage it. Amanda Joiner, Ripley's VP of Publishing and Licensing, said that the dress is in the same condition it started in. One of the users who watched the video posted by Ripley about Kim Kardashian trying the dress on pointed out that the crystals on the dress were already missing and the fabric was already ripped when Kim Kardashian was shown the dress.
On Today's show, the SKNN founder revealed how well Ripley's team and her team got along, really well and revealed that there were handlers who had their gloves on as they put the dress on her and added that the whole thing was an experience. She said that she arrived on the red carpet in a robe and slippers, put on the dress at the bottom of the carpet, and went up the steps for 3 or 4 minutes while wearing it. Kim also said that she changed into a copy of the gown as soon as she reached the top of the stairwell. The reality TV personality expressed her delight at the opportunity to wear the gown and introduce Marilyn Monroe to a new generation of followers. Marilyn Monroe died in 1962.
Kim said during her interview that she was so happy to have that opportunity and so grateful to Ripley for giving her the opportunity to share this moment. As soon as the theme was announced, Kim Kardashian said that she instantly thought of Marilyn Monoroe's dress because she thought that there is nothing more American than iconic actress singing Happy Birthday to the President of the United States and that is when she knew that what was she wearing at the 2022 Met Gala. She also said that she respects her and understands how important the iconic dress is but she wanted to wear so she worked hard to wear it.
Kim Kardashian has launched a new 9-step skincare line called "SKNN" and shared that at her age there is a lot that goes into making sure that the skin is well taken care of and she wanted to share exactly what she uses. She also added that one gets to a place where they are at peace with themselves and she is totally there, but she will do everything to make sure that she looks and feels her best.
