Henry Cavill is replaced by Liam Hemsworth.
Netflix on Saturday announced that The Witcher has been renewed for season four and Henry Cavill’s character Geralt of Rivia will be taken over by Liam Hemsworth.
The Witcher is based on Andrzej Sapkowski's best-selling novel series "The Witcher," which details the life of Geralt of Rivia as he navigates the continent of The Continent. All through his journey, Geralt encounters and battles with everything that goes bump in the dark, from gorgons to bruxas and more.
Henry Cavill took to social media to announce his exit and welcome Liam Hemsworth into the world of The Witcher. Henry wrote that his Geralt of Rivia's journey has been filled with monsters and adventures, but he will be resting his medallion and swords for Season 4 and, instead, Liam Hemsworth will take up the role of the White World. The actor went on to say that, like the best literary characters, he with a lot of gratitude in his heart is ready to pass the torch to Liam Hemsworth adding that he is excited to see the actor's take on the most intriguing and multi-faceted of men.
Henry Cavill concluded his post by giving Liam Hemsworth some advice on playing Geralt of Rivia, as he said that he should enjoy playing the character by diving in and seeing what he can find and just having the best time. Liam Hemsworth, for one, took to social media to express his excitement about joining The Witcher family.
As a Witcher fan, Liam said that he is ecstatic about the chance to play Geralt of Rivia, saying that Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt who has managed to keep the audience hooked with his work and now he is just grateful and feels honored that the actor has decided to hand him the reins to portray such an iconic character. Liam mentioned that he cannot wait to pick up White Wolf's blades for the next chapter of his adventure and bring in his own element onto the table. The Hunger Games star stated that he has been a fan of Henry Cavill for many years and also was captivated by what he had decided to bring to the iconic character. He knows he has some big shoes to fill now, but he's excited to be entering The Witcher world.
Liam Hemsworth has a long way ahead of him before he picks up his sword and travels the continent as Geralt as Season three of The Witcher will premiere in the summer of 2023 following the premiere of The Witcher: Blood Origin in December. The Witcher: Blood Origin is a spin-off that will look into the origins of the prototype Witcher. Liam Hemsworth is excited to portray an iconic character on-screen and the fans are excited to not only watch Liam take over the reins of Henry Cavill but also to witness Henry Cavill's return as Superman.
Henry Cavill recently reprised his role of Superman in Black Adam and took to his social media to share a look of him suited up as Superman and wrote, "a very small taste of what’s to come," adding the dawn of hope renewed. Henry Cavill recorded a video thanking the fans and supporters all across the world for their love, patience, and support as he returns as Superman.
Henry said that he wanted to wait until the weekend was over before he was ready to post this because he wanted to give everyone a chance to watch Black Adam, but now that the majority of the people have watched it, he wants to make it official that he is back as Superman. The actor added that the image fans can see and what they saw in Black Adam is just a small hint of what is yet to come and later went on to thank everyone. At the premiere of Enola Holmes 2 in New York, Henry Cavill shared with ET that there is just hope, optimism, and joy that he wants for Superman.
At the premiere of Black Adam, actor Dwayne Johnson spoke to Entertainment Tonight about Henry Cavill’s return and said that the whole point and initiative of Black Adam was to build out the DC universe by introducing not only Black Adam but the entire JSA, mentioning five new superhero characters in one movie. Because the audience comes first, audience members have been so genuinely enthusiastic and outspoken about it for years. Dwayne went on to say that they had established Black Adam as the most strong and invincible force on the planet, but the fans were so passionate about... Where is the universe's most powerful force? The actor added that he is just going to say "Welcome home," to Henry Cavill.
