The rumors of the band deciding to take a break started to swirl around for a while now and now the announcement directly from the girls put an end to them. It comes after singers Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock became mothers in the summer and welcomed their babies with partners Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and André Gray respectively. Even though, the girls continued to work throughout their pregnancy and filmed five music videos for their 10th-anniversary album, "Between Us."

It was recently reported that Jade Thirlwall has signed with Full Stop Management and is aiming for a solo career along with working with the girls in the band. She is also making regular appearances on television and taking brand deals to expand her career and image as an artist. She recently collaborated with Beauty Bay in October for her own eye shadow palette. In a recent interview, she has mentioned that the girls (Perrie and Leigh) have been really supportive of her decision even though she is terrified of starting up her solo career after being with the girls for ten years.

Jesy Nelson decided to part ways with the band last December and is looking forward to flourishing as a solo artist. While departing from the band, Jesy wrote, "The truth is that being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health." I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard. So, after much consideration and with a heavy heart, I’m announcing I’m leaving Little Mix. I need to spend some time with the people I love, doing things that make me happy. I’m ready to embark on a new chapter in my life. I’m not sure what it’s going to look like right now, but I hope you’ll still be there to support me".

Leigh-Anne Pinnock has also taken a step in a different direction as was a part of a documentary based on racial inequality in the industry on BBC iPlayer and was released in May 2021. She later took on her first big-screen role in the Christmas movie, "Boxing Day." The singer has also had her swimwear line, "In A Seashell," since 2019.

Perrie Edwards also recently launched her luxury clothing line called "Disora." Little Mix was formed on The X Factor in 2011 when all four girls auditioned as solo artists but were put together and became the first group to win the show. Earlier this year, the band won the award for the "Best British Group" at the BRIT Awards 2021 and became the first female group to win the award in its history.

While accepting the award, the singers said, "We have been together for 10 years. It's been the best years of our lives. We've had so much fun, we've made so many memories. We want to thank your incredible fans, Jesy. It's not easy being a female in the UK pop industry. We've seen misogyny, dominance, and lack of diversity. We're proud of how we're stuck together, and we're using our voices more than ever. This award isn't just for us, it's for Spice Girls, Sugababes, All Saints, Girls Aloud, and all the unbelievable girl-bands. We love you. '

Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall opened up on Little Mix’s account on Instagram about how the song, "Between Us," from their latest album made them feel and admitted that it would be an emotional moment when it comes to performing it. Perrie said, "It's a song we will never be able to get through live. Every night on tour, I think we are just going to be in floods of tears. It's just such a cute, stunning song".

The hiatus comes at a perfect time for the girls as two of them would be busy with their kids and clothing line along with the probability of making music solo while the others are looking for other opportunities to expand their careers and keep ruling the hearts of the people. Fans of the band were emotional just like them on listening to news and a section of them said that the break is something that they need after working for ten continuous years and they will stick by their side when they decide to come back.
