Matthew Perry talks about being a husband and father in the future.

Friends actor Matthew Perry, who is gearing up for the release of his memoir ‘Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing’ on November 1st, recently opened up about not being afraid of love anymore and what he hopes for in the future.

For a cover story with People, Matthew Perry said that when he was the one to end almost all of his relationships, including an engagement, that was him being afraid. He added that it is what he manifests that something is wrong with his partners, and then he breaks up with them. Matthew continued that there cannot be something wrong with everyone and he is the common denominator.

The actor said that he leaves first because he thinks that his partners are going to annihilate him and admits that he has a tremendous amount of fear when it comes to love. Matthew continued that because of a lot of work, he has got to get over the fear and he is going to learn as he goes along, and that is one of the things that has changed in him. Further, the actor said that he has no interest in hanging out with somebody that he does not know or someone that he is not into.

Matthew added that the next person he can take seriously is somebody that he is going to be in love with and not be scared by the things that scared him earlier. On asking what kind of partner he would be interested in now, the actor said that someone who's self-supporting. in every way but monetarily, especially because he got burned a few times by women who wanted his money, not really caring about him, sense of humor, beautiful inside and out, caring. This is critical; he requires someone who can engage in debate with him.

The publication asked Matthew Perry if he has any deal breakers, to which he said that he has people who are in with him for the money. The actor is now looking forward to having a future with his family and he explained that he is not run by fear anymore, so everything’s kind of different and he is feeling more confident and he is not afraid of love anymore. Talking about being a father, Matthew Perry says that, according to him, he will be a great dad as he grew up with a lot of little kids around him.

During the interview, Matthew Perry also opened up about how his co-stars, including Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer, were very supportive of his struggles with addiction. He claimed that when he was cast as Chandler Bing, he was 24 years old and was just a guy desperate for fame, believing that fame would solve his problems, but it didn't.

Speaking about his addiction challenges and working on Friends, he said that he was 34 and he thought he could handle it, but he couldn’t, and the co-stars were very understanding and patient. He explained that it was almost like how penguins are in nature. When one of the penguins becomes ill or injured, the others surround it, support it and wander around until the penguin can walk on its own. That's exactly what the cast did for him and he is very grateful for them.  He shared that the fact that he would trade it all to not have the disease is true, but clarified that in no way was he trying to belittle his experience on Friends and stated that money was amazing, adding that just the creative experience of being on Friends probably saved his life.

Matthew Perry's memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, hits bookshelves on Nov. 1.
