American actor Gerard Butler, who starred as the lead in "Olympus Has fallen" (2013), has filed a lawsuit against the film's producers over a dispute regarding profits. Deadline reports that Butler and his legal teams claimed that the film franchise owes Butler over USD 10 million in profit after the court ordered an audit. This audit found that the defendants "understated and profited by more than USD 11 million." It also said that the auditors failed to report nearly USD 8 million in payments made to Producers' top executives.

The Antoine Fuqua-directed film 'Olympus Has Fallen' starred Mike Bannon (Butler), a disgraced Secret Service agent. He is trapped in the White House after terrorist attacks and must rescue the president. Deadline reports that the movie earned USD 170.3 million worldwide at the box office. Greenberg Glusker, on behalf of Comrie Inc., filed a lawsuit against Butler and G-Base Entertainment, claiming that the actor had received zero from the film's producers Nu Image, Millennium, Padre Nuestro Productions.

Deadline reported the complaint alleges fraud, breach, breach, breach, breach, Implied covenant of goodwill and fair dealing, intentional interference with contractual relations and accounting. The complaint seeks a trial before a jury.  Deadline discovered from the legal documents that the same producers had been sued in federal court alleging they "failed" to report Olympus profits to the Producers Pension and Health Plan of Directors Guild of America. It added that "It seems the Producers' mode of operation is to hide Olympus' profits to keep these profits for themselves. The next movie in the franchise, "Night Has Fallen," is in development.

The suit stated that producers had earned tens to millions of dollars from Olympus but refused to pay Butler any of the profits and grosses promised to them in the parties' agreement. Butler is refusing to accept the misrepresentations and other wrongdoings of the Defendants. Butler was a partner in the creation of a hugely successful movie franchise. He is entitled to his fair share. “Producers created a scheme to grossly misrepresent the Film's finances so that Butler believed that no such payments were due." "It seems that the Producers' mode of operation is to hide Olympus' profits to keep those profits for their own," the lawsuit added. This news comes just one day after Scarlett Johansson was in the headlines for suing Disney regarding Black Widow's streaming release.
