Who wouldn't want Angelina Jolie to crash their birthday party? Well, Salma Hayek definitely did not want birthday crashers. Not even Angelina Jolie as one of them and certainly not a birthday party itself. Jolie, along with a few other people, still gatecrashed Salma Hayek's lack of a birthday party and what ensued was nothing but fun-filled chaos.

The birthday bash for the Frida star turned out to be an event where she got a face full of cake as Jolie pushed her face into the birthday pastry. And while the party was not to be held, Angelina Jolie kind of crashed the day for Salma Hayek.

Retelling the events of the day, Hayek said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the show, "There was no birthday party." The star went on to say, "All of those people were crashers. I said, 'I don't want a birthday party this year.' I had to work all day. [There were 25] people that I told them, 'There is no birthday party,' [and they] showed up anyway."

The phenomenal actress was pretty busy for the day and decided to work alone. She was to spend the day of September 2 alone, without her husband, Francois-Henri Pinault, or her daughter, Valentina, aged 14. Because of her busy schedule, she decided to put off the party. Yet her friends wouldn't leave her alone on the special day and felt bad that she had thought of spending her day alone holed up for work. So, "Everybody felt sorry for my loneliness, so they just showed up at my house," she told Jimmy Kimmel Live! host.

The party crashers included her friend Angelina Jolie, aged 46, the star who is now to be seen as Thena in the new Marvels movie, Eternals. The thoughtful friend, versed in Mexican culture and the practice of "la mordida" tradition, wanted to fulfill the ceremony for her friend Hayek on an auspicious day. The "la mordida" tradition means that the birthday girl had to take a bit of the cake without using her hands.

She had her initial reservations about pushing Hayek's face into the cake and had quickly claimed that she wouldn't do it. Salma said that Angelina Jolie had said, "No, no, oh, no, I cannot do that," only to know that it was tradition and agreed for the traditional act.

The moment where Angelia Jolie pushes Salma’s face into the cake went viral on the internet, and hence Salma had to explain what all of it was about. Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the night show, aged 53, also must have seen the video circulating the internet and described the moment as a "very gentle push."

Kumail Nanjiani, another actor who stars with the two actresses in Eternals, was one of the people who didn't gate crash Hayek's unintentional party. Talking about not attending the event, Nanjiani had to say that his invitation might have gotten lost. And yet he joked about Angelia's ridiculous face-push moment and said, "I mordida-ed at home. I mordida-ed myself to sleep."

Gauging from their casual jokes and unplanned parties, it looks like the Eternals stars are getting on pretty good terms!

But it wasn't like that always. Hayek, for her part, wasn't too eager to grab the superhero role with Marvel because she wasn't sure what such a role would entail for an actress of her age. Hence, she didn't go on to meet with Marvel right away and said she told herself to forget about the meeting.

Talking about her fears, she told Entertainment Weekly, "I said, 'Forget it.' I said, 'God knows what kind of grandmother they want me to play.' I'm used to being told I'm going to be the extra or the old prostitute. And then they said the director was Chloé Zhao, and I said, 'OK! Let's have the meeting!'"

Considering that Zhao is a two-time Academy Awards winner, it was a pretty good move on Hayek's part. Zhao, a director, aged 39, is the first woman of color to win Best Direct at the Academy Awards held this April, where she grabbed the title for her film Nomadland. The film also won the title of Best picture. She also made history by becoming the second woman to take home the title of Best Director at the Academy Awards apart from Kathryn Bigelow. The latter had won the honor for her film The Hurt Locker in 2009.
