Johnny Depp filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018 that described her as a survivor of domestic abuse. Johnny Depp filed the lawsuit because he stated that the publication of the op-ed cost him a couple of projects and damaged his reputation, as it portrays him as someone who beats his wife which is not true. The trial is ongoing in Fairfax Country Court, Virginia which is already in it fourth week and is expected to last upto six weeks.

Now, the news has arrived that actress Amber Heard has parted ways with Precision Strategies and hired David Shane’s public relations firm as she was upset with the bad and negative publicity she was getting. This could potentially relate to the #JusticeForJohnnyDepp hashtag, which has nearly 3 million views on TikTok and other social media sites, as well as a petition to replace Amber Heard in "Aquaman 2," which has over 3 million signatures. It has been reported that Amber Heard has 10 minutes to screen time in Aquaman 2 but the people have insisted on getting the actress replaced.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Precision Strategies, which is helmed by Stephanie Cutter, who is former President Barack Obama’s former deputy campaign manager, was looking after Amber Heard’s public relations strategies till now and has been dropped by the actress. Amber Heard has hired Shane Communications, which is led by former ICM VP corporate communications David Shane, who also has experience working with Johnny Depp, as they represented Johnny’s former business manager, The Management Group after Johnny Depp sued the group for breach of contract. The Management Group filed a countersuit, accusing Johnny Depp of a "lack of impulse control" in his spending habits, accusing him of spending hundreds of millions of dollars on real estate, wine, vehicles, and other luxuries through Shane Communications. In July 2018, the lawsuits were settled.

Shane Communications' team includes David Shane, partner Alafair Gall, STI Management founder Neal Lenarsky, and former WMA chief executive Jim Wiatt are among the advisors who will be working for Amber Heard.

The sources revealed that the actress was pretty upset with the bad headlines that had put her in a tough spot since the trial begin. Amber Heard was supposedly frustrated with her story not being told effectively hence she decided to drop her previous public relations firm. Ex-Pete Buttigieg campaign maven Lis Smith shared that the move by Amber Heard is not the right move especially in the middle of a trial just because she does not like the headlines. Lis added that Precision Strategies is one of the best crisis firms but the firm cannot rewrite the history of what had happened.

It was also reported that Amber Heard never wanted the trial to be televised but Johnny Depp’s team won that battle and he had the entire trial televised for the fans and audience to be aware of what was happening and no wordplay could be done by either of the parties. Several testimonies have been heard including Johnny Depp’s and various people have testified stating that they have never witnessed any physical violence from Johnny Depp towards Amber Heard.

Amber Heard is yet to take the stand and the trial is already in its fourth week!
