Season 27 of ABC’s The Bachelor is back.

On Monday, Zach Shallcross' season of The Bachelor premiered, and the audience saw Zach discuss a long and public kiss with Greer Blitzer before handing his first-impression rose and saying goodbye to Madison Johnson.

Bachelor Zach Shallcross of Season 27 recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about how he felt about the responses to his season premiere. He was asked if it was unusual for him to process watching the fans react to the news of him becoming the Bachelor, to which Zach replied that it was surprising for him as well when he learned that he was chosen to be the new Bachelor, noting that it may have not settled in for him for a long time, but now it has started to sink in that he is in that position.

Zach added that as the lead, he saw the responses of viewers and fans, noting that there were both supportive ones and not-so-supportive ones. Zach asserted that it was challenging to adjust to, but it is crazy to him as he has just lived through this encounter and is very pleased. As previously stated, the first episode included a significant amount of kissing. During the interview, Zach was questioned if he was conscious that it would be a component of the procedure or if he just was swept away in it, to which the Bachelor replied that, honestly, he just was swept away in it, adding that the opening night is overpowering and exhilarating. He clarified that he was meeting 30 incredible women and that he had no idea how the night will indeed unfold.

Zach admitted that his main concern was that he wanted to talk to and meet as many women as possible, and as audiences saw, there were a lot of fast links where the physical connection was there right away. He stated that he does not hide his thoughts and feelings or what he is beginning to feel. In response to his kiss with Greer Blitzer, Zach stated that what he is searching for is a person who can soothe him and someone who can just make him feel relaxed, and Greer was able to do that without attempting to make him feel like he had been pulled in a million different possibilities. He clarified that when he was starting to think when he gave her the first impression rose, it was a great first impression of her because he felt he could unwind and be relaxed near her, which he did appreciate.

The Bachelor also mentioned Madison Johnson's exit, in which audiences saw her try to kiss Zach Shallcross, whom he did not acknowledge. Zach stated that he is not a fan of compelled kisses, and in regards to Madison, he asserted that it appeared okay; he does not think it is going to be them, and attempting to force a kiss will not help them. But Zach did mention that everything in that residence is so daunting as if a million activities are going on at once, that you sometimes do silly, goofy things.

When asked what he was most enthusiastic for fans to see, Zach stated that if they appreciate the show because they desire people to find real love and a real focus on what it is purported to be about—not acting, not this or that—then he believes fans will enjoy it. But if they're into extra drama and nonsense that doesn't make sense, he may not be the guy for them.

Zach stated that he is thrilled for everyone to witness everyone's personalities since that was not something that was part of The Bachelorette (Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia's season). People rarely understand who he is, and this season, they'll be able to experience the whole man, whether it's the nice, the unfortunate, or the goofy side that hasn't been seen before. That is what he wants people to see.
