The 32-year-old Zoe Kravitz, in an interview, has shared her thoughts on Matt Reeve's selection as the director of her upcoming superhero film 'The Batman' while speaking in an interview with AnotherMag. The American actress talked about the kind of pressure she and her co-stars went through to make the superhero film stand out from other Batman films.

She said, "[The fans] are [hardcore], and because I respect them so much I chose not to think about them when making the movie."

Kravitz added, "If I'm thinking about wanting everyone to like it and wanting all the fans to like it, I'm not going to actually bring a real person to life. Matt wrote a really interesting story with a complex character, and the relationships are really interesting. All I wanted to do was honour that story."

"Sometimes with really big movies, it can feel like you're just a puppet and part of this big machine,"

She continued. "This felt like an independent movie in the way that there was real heart and soul and thought being put into the process and into every scene. It was incredibly collaborative. Matt's very specific. It took him a year to make this because of Covid. We were in this bubble, really in this world, and it was an incredible experience. To spend a year of your life, and it's very physically demanding ... I had to be in very specific shape, and there's a pandemic going on. I'm being zipped into a catsuit every day at 7am, working 12-hour days and then coming home and working out. It was intense."

Prior to Kravitz's comments on Matt Reeves and the film, film star Andy Serkis who is set to play the role of Batman's mentor and best friend Alfred Pennyworth also revealed some important and major details regarding his character Alfred.

Serkis said, "I would say that's not far from the truth," the star said. "It's very much about the emotional connection between Alfred and Bruce. That's really at the centre of it. And it is a really exquisite script that Matt has written."

Serkis was quick to add some kind words about Michael Caine's rendition of the character in previous films. "He [Caine] was fantastic. His Alfred was legendary, I couldn't even begin to go there, really. You find it for yourself. It's like playing these iconic roles in Shakespeare, you go back, you revisit them and you have to make it your own, and see what it is about the character that connects with you and your personal Venn diagram,"

Previously, Serkis also shared his experience while working with 55-year-old director Matt Reeves on the project.

He said, "I've been totally forbidden to speak about The Batman, of course," Serkis added. "But what I will say is that I'm pretty certain Matt Reeves, who is a very dear friend of mine and of course we've worked together on the Planet of the Apes movies, I know for a fact he's making a pretty amazing picture. I really think it's going to be special."

Detective Comics upcoming superhero film The Batman will be distributed by American media production house Warner Bros. Pictures and is directed by Matt Reeves with Peter Craig and Matt Reeves responsible for writing the story of the film.
