Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser's divorce is finalized.
Gilmore Girls actress Alexis Bledel and Mad Men actor Vincent Kartheiser, who met in 2012 and got married in 2014, announced their separation after eight years of marriage. On August 30th, it was reported that a judge at Putnam County Supreme Court in New York had finalized their divorce.
Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser kept their relationship away from the eyes of the public and the media and rarely made any public appearances together or even spoke about each other when asked. The ex-couple does not use social media, so traces of their relationship cannot be found either.
Three years after their initial meeting on the Mad Men set, the pair exchanged vows in secret in Ojai, California, in June 2014. According to a source who spoke exclusively to the US at the time, the couple wanted something calm and beautiful for their wedding, which was a small, private family affair. The ideal place was Ojai. The actress planned her wedding while she was working on a movie titled "Jenny's Wedding" in 2015, which also starred actress Katherine Heigl and featured the actress playing a lesbian getting ready to wed into a traditional household. Alexis spoke to Nylon at the time and shared that it was odd to kind of walk through the scenes of the wedding itself and think about how much these people had to go through just to get to that point. She added that planning her wedding, celebrating, and having everyone be pleased for her was so simple for her.
Vincent Kartheiser explained to Vulture in 2014 why he prefers to keep his private affairs out of the public eye and shared a realization he's had about himself: If he shares them with the world, he opens the door for them and the fuming rage that people need to release in order to express their admiration for their favorite celebrity, and it lessens that admiration. Considering that magical love and all of that are fundamentally spiritual, Vincent said, it cheapens it, diminishes it, and it simply doesn't feel right.
In 2012, Vincent spoke to the US where he mentioned the special connection he has with the actress, stating that the most important thing for them is to make sure that they see each other in the flesh at least once every ten days. He added that everything is good and he loves seeing her.
The couple share a son, whom they welcomed in 2015, but have kept the pregnancy and the birth a secret too. Scott Patterson, who played Luke Danes on Gilmore Girls, spoke to Glamour and gave the audience some insights about the actress’ life as a mother and said that she has really blossomed as a woman and now Alexis is a happy, married and a proud new mother.
Scott added that Alexis and he compare notes because his son was born in July 2014 and is a year and a half older than her son, so they talk about parenting and mentioned that they just really enjoy each other’s company.
The Texas native made waves by announcing her resignation from The Handmaid's Tale after four seasons prior to their breakup. After giving it some thought, Alexis Bledel, who portrayed Emily/Ofglen on the show, told Variety in May that she believed it was necessary to leave The Handmaid's Tale at this time. The former Gilmore Girls star expressed her gratitude to Hulu, MGM, the cast, and crew as well as Bruce Miller for crafting such realistic and impactful sequences for Emily.
