Selena Gomez has an impressive collection of small and dainty tattoos, but recently, the singer went all out and got a massive piece added to her museum of body artwork! A bit different from her usual collection of cutesy little pieces, Selena went all out for her latest inkwork and added a massive design to her back.
The news was shared by Bang Bang Tattoo, an inkwork shop situated in New York City. The picture showed the singer with her back to the camera as she draped a black coat over her front side, running across towards the back with just enough space for the tattoo to peek through. She had parted her hair over her shoulders, and the artwork was indistinctly visible in the frame. However, the ink was not clearly seen, and fans were quick to fill the comment section by asking what the singer had got inked on her back.
The tattoo begins from the nape of her neck running down the back, and currently, fans think that the ink could be a succulent plant hanging through chains or another ink piece featuring lines of ink dripping downwards. This is possibly the 16th tattoo addition to Selena's collection. The actress has already maintained a beautiful body journal, including ink pieces forming a pair of praying hands, the number '4', and many more.
Considering that Selena also has beads tattooed on her body apart from the praying hands, it would make sense that Selena got a flaming or a bleeding heart tattooed on her back. Traditionally, a burning or a bleeding heart signifies heartache or pain in Christianity and would fit right in with the 13 Reasons Why producer's other body inks.
Another fan theory around the new tattoo is Selena entering into her latest musical era, which fans have already dubbed as "darklena." The Kill 'em with kindness singer has yet not shared what the tattoo actually is, but it still makes it a pretty interesting topic for the fans.

Apart from the latest neck ink work that she included, Selena has another neck tattoo that she got celebrating her album Rare. The tattoo is inked right under where her jaw ends and neck begins and includes only the word "Rare" inked in elegant calligraphy. It is truly a dainty little piece.
Her second most famous tattoo has to be a pair of hands joined in prayer sporting a rosary, another piece that she got inked from Bang Bang, this time before she headed for the AMAs. Of course, this was the same event where Selena was accused of singing off-key, despite the lyrics mentioning that she was about to sing off-key.
It is not only a pair of praying hands that point towards Selena's immense faith in her religion. She has another permanent reminder of her devotion etched on her body, right on her collarbone in the shape of a cross. Talking of how she is following the path of God, Selena had once said, “I’m very, very spiritual.”
Expressing her fear about being an open devotee, she said, “I believe in God, but I’m not religious. I’ve been a Christian for a while now. I don’t talk about it too much—I want to, but it’s gotten a bad rep. I just want to make it clear that I love being able to have my faith and believe in what I believe in, and that truly is what gets me through.”
An arrow remains to be one of the most tattooed designs ever, and the legendary singer herself could not resist the charm of a plain old arrow tattooed on her body. She got the ink piece together with Julia Michaels as she arrived at her concert in a surprise appearance. She had captioned her Instagram story saying, “My arrow points to you forever.”
Apart from being a super amazing singer, Selena is essentially a great human being too and actively takes part in the proceedings of Project Semicolon, a non-profit organization that helps prevent suicide and mental health. She got the tattoo inked along with her fellow cast members from 13 Reasons Why. Another tattoo that Selena got for a group of her friends is the number four '4' tattooed on her inner arm. Explaining the meaning behind the tattoo, Selena had said that it is for her close four friends and that they are “my 4 for the rest of my life.”

She got the number tattooed just when she had got the '4' tattoo, and this is for her best friend Courtney Lopez. Dedicating the tattoo to Courtney, she had said, “You are the definition of FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made baby! #1.” Another of Selena's mono letter tattoos is the alphabet 'G'. While the singer never revealed what exactly she meant by getting that tattoo, fans believe that it could be her ode to her sister Gracie.
Talking of Selena's family, she has a few tattoos that she dedicates to them. One is her "Sunshine" tattoo, which she got for her grandmother. Apparently, the lady had once called her grandmother "Sunshine" through a Twitter post. And then there is her “LXXVI”, also on her neck, for her mother.
The letters “LXXVI” translate to 1976 from the Roman numerals and are actually the pop singer's mother's birth year. Bang Bang had later revealed that the tattoo “was a tribute to a family member who she said means a lot to her. Selena was nervous it might have been painful, so she held her best friend’s hand the whole time. But she did a great job.” So, it makes sense if it is for Mandy Teefy, her mother.
