Before Squid Game, Bridgerton was everything that all people could talk about on Netflix. The series will now make a return on Christmas Day, and just as you can guess, fans are more excited than ever!

The series revolves around a big family from the Regency-era high society, their love lives, and more. The series cast Jonathan Bailey, Phoebe Dynevor, Claudia Jessie, Luke Newton, Luke Thompson, Florence Hunt, Will Tilston, and Ruth Gemmell in the role of the Bridgerton siblings. Season 1 focused on the eldest sister Daphne, played by Dynevor, and her first-ever real relationship with Simon Basset, the most eligible bachelor of London, as played by Rege-Jean Page

The period series created so much buzz that even before the first season was over, the show was already said to be renewed for another season. As the drama escalated in popularity soon enough and was watched in over 63 million homes, it was a surety that the season would be renewed for another story from the Regency era. But at the time, the cast wasn't yet sure about what the next series would deal with.

At the time, Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington in the series, shared her hopes for the drama to make a comeback. The actress told Variety, “We all really hope it will be renewed. It’s a real joy to make, and the response has been beyond our wildest dreams. But until the Netflix gods come down and bless us, we don’t know.” The creator Chris Van Dusen had managed to keep the details about the series under wraps pretty well, but fans are sure that all the Bridgerton siblings might get to have their very own seasons.

When the first season was still running, the creator had made his thoughts clear on what the future of the series could entail. He said, “Obviously, we’re just focused on the first season right now. And while that focuses on the eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne and her love affair with Simon, we know there are eight Bridgerton siblings, and there are eight Bridgerton books. Apparently, we can hope for eight Bridgerton seasons, as told by Dusen. "So, in success, I would love to be able to explore love stories and romances for all the Bridgerton brothers and sisters, of course,” he said.

Page had told TV Guide if the OG Bridgerton couple returns to the show, we could get to see some evolution in their relationship. He shared, “I think that love is an evolving thing. It’s a living, breathing thing that needs tending, that needs looking after, that needs mending when it gets worn or torn. They get married very young. They still have a lot of growing to do. They have a lot to do, and I think it’ll always be fun to watch them do that together.”

Netflix makes Season 2 Official!

After some speculating and hope from the fans' part, Netflix finally shared on January 21 that Bridgerton will return for Season 2! As told earlier, the successive season is going to hold Anthony Bridgerton, played by Bailey, at center stage and focus on his story. The official notice came as a statement by Lady Whistletown. The dramatic notice read: "The incomparable cast of Bridgerton will return to production in the Spring of 2021. This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities." The season is probably going to be based on The Viscount Who Loved Me, the second book in the Bridgerton series.

If fans are lucky enough, we could get to see all other Bridgerton siblings living through their own romantic seasons, as first told by Van Dusen. The creator told Collider, "I would love to be able to focus and really tell stories and love stories for all the Bridgerton siblings. For each character, for sure. I think we've done some work in season 1 to set up other characters ... I think it's a deep well of a story for us to explore."

While now we know for sure that Anthony will get his own season, Dynevor is hopeful for a little more of Daphne-Simon's romance. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, she said, "I'd like to see Daphne get involved in Anthony's love life since he was so involved in hers." Hinting at a possible change in her character's married life, she added, "There's no such thing as a happy ending, is there? I think love's always shifting and changing. So who knows? I'd like to see what happens next."

Bridgerton has its own Queen!

The Regency-era drama can not be complete without a queen right? Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuvel, hence, also added her own thoughts for the series. She told Insider, "If Chris Van Dusen comes to me and says, 'Golda, what would you like to see in the second season if we have a second season?' I would say, 'The Queen and Eloise have to get together and form an alliance and find out who Whistledown is.'" It's nice to see the Queen as focused on Whistledown as we are. The lady added, "I think it's the intrigue of meeting her match. ... I think there's a lot of joy in that for Queen Charlotte because she loves a little bit of gossip."

Eloise, another of Bridgertons siblings could also steal the show in Season 2, especially if there is a ball to attend. Played by Jessie, Eloise is a character meant to drive the show. Jessie told in an interview, “She's going to shake things up and basically take the piss out of it. I'm excited about that. But I would really love to see Eloise just really own every space she's in. She had this vision that her sister was the perfect debutante, and then Eloise comes sort of like crashing through with her own personality."

It would also be a big shocker for Eloise when she finally narrows down who Lady Whistledown is. Jessi told, "I just can't imagine what that is going to be like. That's such a shock to a friendship. You have this woman, this character, this mysterious scribbler that Eloise is basically a bit in love with and kinda wants to be her best mate — has been lying to her, writing about her family, and causing scandals. To me, that's the most compelling thing in the world."

Bailey, for the most part, could be no happier than being the man of the show by this point. The man knows how to drive fans crazy, and his mysterious messages have literally kept the fans on their toes for some time now. He had once told British Vogue, "I feel like the campy, plush spectacle of the Bridgerton world is only going to get more pronounced in the best way possible. It's mad, and it's brilliant. There are also going to be a lot of brilliant characters introduced in this series — and it's not just Anthony that we're going to delve into. ... There's loads of little Easter eggs for all of the characters."

The series will now also star Simon Ashley, who will get to play Kate Sharma. “Get ready to fall in love with Simone Ashley, who will play Kate in season 2 of Bridgerton. Kate is a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools — Anthony Bridgerton very much included,” the streaming service had tweeted back in February.

Looks like the series' lovers will have their hands full!
