Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello may have decided to stay friends and put an end to their two-year-long relationship for reasons unknown, but the breakup is surely hitting the two of them hard.

Shawn recently posted a video on his social media where he opened up to his fans about how hard it has been for him post-breakup, and he also thanked them for connecting with his song "It’ll Be Okay," which he released just weeks after announcing the breakup.

In the video that is nearly two minutes long, he told his fans, "I'm having a little bit of a hard time with social media at the moment, just kind of my relationship with it, but I have lots of people sending me videos and telling me what's going on. I think that when I make music, the ultimate goal is to kind of be sitting there and have some sort of my truth revealed to me, and a lot of the time when I'm writing songs, I'm usually using music as a platform to be able to get to a place inside of myself that I wouldn't be able to get to by just kind of talking to people or thinking about it".

Talking further, Shawn Mendes mentioned that he has come across a lot of TikToks of people crying and getting emotional while playing the song "It’ll Be Okay" and he hopes that they connect with it because there’s some truth in the song. Shawn adds, "I just feel so proud of that song, and I'm so grateful you guys are connecting with it. I feel so grateful that people are being vulnerable with it and people are just having fun with it. I see you guys, and I see how much love you're giving the song, and giving me, and that means the world to me, so thank you.

Not only is Shawn Mendes having a hard time staying on social media, but it was reported a few days ago that singer Camila Cabello had also decided to go on a little social media detox till the new year as she wanted to spend less time engaging on social media. A source also reported that both Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are extremely sad and heartbroken over the breakup and are trying their best to stay at their best. An insider told People magazine, "It just wasn't a relationship that could move forward at this point." It seems the romance just fizzled. "

This is not going to be the first time that celebrities who have to use social media for various purposes had decided to go on social media detox and expressed that engaging on social media is giving them a hard time. The reasons for having challenges while using social media could vary from person to person but it has been said that limiting screen timing and social media use has helped a lot of celebrities to maintain their mental health in check and feel better.

So, here are some celebrities who decided to go on a social media detox for their own good:

In 2018, stand-up comedian Pete Davidson, who was dating singer Ariana Grande when, deleted his Instagram account because he couldn’t handle the negative comments he received from angry fans. Before deleting his account, Pete said, "No, there's nothing wrong. No, nothing happened. No, there's nothing cryptic about anything. I just don't want to be on Instagram anymore. Or on any social media platform. The internet is an evil place, and it doesn't make me feel good. "

In the summer of 2016, when Justin Bieber was dating Sofia Richie, he decided to deactivate his Instagram account because fans were leaving hateful comments about Sofia. Justin Bieber came back on Instagram in February 2017. He wrote, "I’m going to make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate. This is getting out of hand. If you guys are really fans, you wouldn’t be so mean to people who I like."

Rachel Zegler was forced to take a break from Twitter after she received a bunch of hate messages after she came under the spotlight for posting some flirty messages about co-star Ansel Elgort, who is dating Violetta Komyshan. Rachel shared, "The fact that I have to say something is absolutely absurd. But the DMs and the name-calling and throwing around the word "homewrecker" over me expressing the genuine love I have for my coworker is heartbreaking and I don’t want any part of it. So peace for now, I guess. Be nice. "

Selena Gomez has also taken a lot of social media breaks, and in 2019 during a press conference, she shared, "I think our world is going through a lot. I would say for my generation, specifically, social media has really been terrible. It does scare me when you see how exposed these young boys and young girls are. They are not aware of the news. I think it’s dangerous for sure. I don’t think people are getting the right information sometimes. I think it’s pretty impossible to make it safe at this point. I’m grateful I have the platform. I don’t take a lot of pointless pictures. For me, I like to be intentional with it. It just scares me. I’ll see these young girls at meet and greets. They are devastated, dealing with bullying and not being able to have their own voice. It can be great in a moment. I would be careful and allow yourself some time limits on when you should use it. In 2018, when Ruby Rose was cast as The CW’s Batwoman, she received a lot of backlash from the audience as they believed that she might not be a perfect fit for the first openly gay superhero — some didn't know the actress was a lesbian. The actress decided to quit Twitter and turned off her Instagram comments, and before leaving Twitter, she wrote, "Where on earth did 'Ruby is not a lesbian, therefore she can't be Batwoman' come from — has to be the funniest, most ridiculous thing I've ever read." Did I come out at 12? And I have for the past 5 years had to deal with "she's too gay". How do y'all flip it like that? I didn't change. I wish we would all support each other on our journeys. " The actress has not returned to Twitter and her Instagram comments are still disabled.
