Chris Rock addresses the infamous slap incident while making a joke along with discussing a lot of things.
Comedian-actor Chris Rock, who is currently on his Ego Death comedy tour, recently performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Thursday, where the comedian addressed the infamous altercation between him and Will Smith that took place at the Academy Awards 2022 in March.
Chris Rock began the show by teasing the approximately 5,000 people in the audience who were hoping to hear more Will Smith jokes by announcing that he is OK and that he has regained most of his hearing. People are expecting Chris Rock to talk about the nonsense, but he says he is not going to do it right now.
The comedian has, however, hinted that he’s probably going to talk about it on Netflix and claimed that he would not comment on the situation or the moment unless he’s paid for it and sees a check with his name on it. He also said that everyone says that words hurt but added that anyone who says words hurt has never been slapped in the face.
Chris Rock recently laughed about the same on-stage when Dave Chappelle was attacked by a 23-year-old Isaiah Lee in Los Angeles, where Dave was performing, and remarked that at least Chris Rock was smacked by someone of repute rather than a homeless man with leaves in his hair. Chris Rock responded that he had been smacked by the softest n***a in history.
Will Smith stepped on stage and slapped Chris Rock in March at the Academy Awards 2022 after Chris Rock made a joke about the actor's wife Jada Pinkett Smith's bald head, (a result of alopecia), which Chris Rock was unaware of. Will Smith yelled that Chris Rock should refrain from discussing Jada Pinkett Smith. The comedian-actor acted professionally and delivered the award to the winner of 'Best Documentary. Will Smith has been barred from the Academy Awards for ten years, according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Chris Rock also discussed other topics on his London show, including the imminent Supreme Court Roe v. Wade ruling, joking that he had already paid for enough of them. The comedian also mocked his dating life as well as Meghan Markle's "in-law stuff." Chris Rock stated that the royal family's desire to know how dark the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's children would be was not racist because other black people would want to know as well.
The comedian went on to joke about the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, as he mentioned that he would like to party with Boris Johnson but would not let him run a McDonald’s. Chris Rock also brought up the ongoing defamation trial battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard where he made fun of one of the incidents that were brought up during the trial where Johnny Depp testified that she left human feces on his side of the bed as part of a joke that went wrong.
Chris Rock said that we should all believe all women, believe all women except Amber Heard. He added what the fuck is she on? She shit in his bed before adding that she’s fine but she’s not shitting fine. He added that once you shit on someone’s bed, you are just guilty of everything. Chris Rock joked, "She s**t in his bed. What the f**k is going on there? Wow. And they had a relationship after that. It must be amazing p***y… I’ve been with some crazy b*****s but goddammit."
Wanda Sykes who was one of the hosts at the 2022 Academy Awards which was held in March is also on her comedy tour and stopped in Orlando, Florida where she told the audience at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts that she is still trying to process the slap. She shared with the audience that she is still traumatized by what had happened and added that she cannot talk about it as she gets emotional.
Wanda also mentioned that she couldn’t believe that Will Smith sat there in the audience like an asshole and added that she wishes that he would get his shit together now. She recalled that she felt really bad for Chris Rock and when she walked up to him during an after-party, she apologized to him to which he said that she does not need to apologize it was her, Amy, and Regina’s night and appreciated her by saying that all three of them were extraordinary job on-stage but later he apologized that the night is going to be all about the infamous slap.
