In a recent conversation, Dune director Denis Villeneuve has revealed that he loves the superhero Batman, and he can relate to the fan-favorite comic book character.

Villeneuve said, "Batman would be probably the only character that I could relate to, from what I read, like Arkham Asylum, a book like that, I got in contact with when I was an adult. It's for me, the character that I could connect to."

The Oscar-winning director is currently busy promoting his newly released film Dune. Villeneuve is very optimistic about the film's box office performance as he revealed it in an interview with Total Film. The acclaimed director during the interview also went on to praise the Warner Bros. Studio.

He said, "We have been hearing in the past few decades that it's not possible to adapt this book and that it's an impossible task. I think that in the back of the mind of the studio, it's still the same!"

He added, "So the first thing was to prove that there was a beautiful, popular movie that can exist, and I think that I proved that - everybody at Warner Bros and Legendary, they are 100 percent behind the project. They feel that it would need a really bad outcome at the box office to not have a Dune: Part Two because they love the movie. They are proud of the movie, so they want the movie to move forward. And they still did half of it. So, you know, I'm very optimistic."

He continued, "I'm writing [Part Two] now, and I feel like I'm eight years old again, that's very uncommon for me. It's the first time I've experienced it where I'm watching one of my movies, and I have a moment of deep gratitude, of deep joy, and I say, 'Thank you, life, for having allowed me to bring that to the screen.' [laughs] I don't know how other people will feel about it. But me? Denis Villeneuve when he was 14 years old? Thank you."

Last month, Denis Villeneuve started a controversy after he made some controversial remarks against Marvel Studios while speaking at a promotional event of his latest blockbuster, Dune. He said, "There are too many Marvel movies that are nothing more than a cut and paste of others."

The Oscar-winning director added, “Perhaps these types of movies have turned us into zombies a bit… But big and expensive movies of great value there are many today. I don’t feel capable of being pessimistic at all."

Villeneuve continued, "Just think of the golden age of Hollywood to see that commercial films can make a different artistic proposal and, therefore, political. I have never felt like a loss or an impediment to have a generous budget to do what I wanted to do. Upside down. Who said that a movie on a big budget can’t be artistically relevant at the same time? I am currently thinking of people like Christopher Nolan or Alfonso Cuarón.” The Academy Award-nominated director has added himself to the list of various other filmmakers along the years publicly criticizing the MCU."

Villeneuve expressed similar thoughts when he spoke to French Outlet Premiere. He said, "If we’re talking about Marvel, the thing is, all these films are made from the same mold. Some filmmakers can add a little color to it, but they’re all cast in the same factory. It doesn’t take anything away from the movies, but they are formatted.”
