Schitt’s Creek is a very popular CBC Television Canadian television sitcom created by father-son duo, Eugene and Dan Levy. The show aired from 2015 to 2020 and had a total of 80 episodes spread over six seasons. Not a Real Company of Productions and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation produced Schitt’s Creek.

The show depicts the problems of an affluent family named 'Rose' after their business manager embezzles the family's firm, "Rose Video." The family loses their riches and moves to "Schitt's Creek," a little town they bought as a joke a few years ago. Johnny, Moira, David, and Alexis Rose's life in Schitt's Creek revolves around how they adjust to living in a tiny town and a hotel.

It was reported that Dan Levy was the one behind the concept of the series, as he wondered how wealthy families, as depicted on American reality television, would survive after they lost their money. He further developed the series with his father, Eugene Levy, before pitching the series to several Canadian and American networks. The show made history in 2020 when the show swept the Emmys, breaking the record for most wins by a comedy in a single season and becoming the only show to ever win all four of the acting categories in the same year.

Recently, on the recent episode of "The Kelly Clarkson Show", Eugene Levy shared that the iconic episode that his son Dan Levy wrote was specifically written to piss Eugene off. Eugene said, "I'm a little picky about my hair, and it's not, you know, it's not vanity, it's just really tough hair to do, you know, for me". He further mentioned that Dan wasted no time messing with him, as the second episode of season one of "Schitt’s Creek" is called "The Drip," and in it, Johnny Rose wakes up to find that there has been a slow drip coming from the ceiling above his bed all night, and he wakes up completely soaked. "When I read the scene, I said, 'Ah, Dan, Really? It can't drip anywhere else except on my hair?'"

The actor shared with Kelly Clarkson that despite the discomfort, he went ahead and agreed to do the scene because he understands the comedy surrounding the scenario. Eugene Levy added, "We were shooting the scene and I took a break and I looked in that little hand mirror, and I'm going, 'Okay, it's all right, I think I can live with this,' and then I hear a voice saying, 'I think it should be more wet ...' that was Daniel. And I said, really? And he said, 'Yeah, I don't think it's going to play unless it looks like it's wet".

Kelly Clarkson joked and said that this scene could be revenge from Dan to his father because he did not give Dan something he asked for Christmas, to which Eugene replied, "It's from something, and I could never to this day track exactly what it was, but we did the scene." The actor later said that although the episode was written to mess up with him, he enjoyed filming the scene and quoted, "Honestly, I mean, I got as much fun watching him watching me be as miserable as I was doing the scene, but it all worked for the scene."

During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Dan Levy joked that the iconic dialogue "EW David", said by Alexis to David, will haunt him forever, even though she said the iconic line only twice on the show. Dan Levy said, "It's resulted in a sort of tagline that I think will haunt me for the rest of my life ... 'EW' is not necessarily something you want screamed at you in your most vulnerable time." He also said that he admires the love the fans of the show do to showcase their love for the show.

Even though the creators have no present plans to bring Schitt's Creek back, Dan Levy has stated that a film is the most likely option for the show to return, if it ever does. Annie Murphy has also stated that she would be "over the moon" if a Schitt's Creek movie were made, and she has been sending Levy a daily bribe to persuade him to bring the show back.

While Annie Murphy's attention is still on Schitt's Creek, she's presently working on her dark comedy Kevin Can F**k Himself, and several of the other cast members are also busy with other projects. Despite the widespread desire for a return, Dan Levy just secured a deal with Netflix to develop and create original material, so the chances of seeing new Schitt's Creek anytime soon are, unfortunately, looking doubtful for the time being.

Co-authored with his father, Eugene Levy, Dan Levy have released a book titled, "Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: The Story of Schitt's Creek," on October 26th, 2021, by Black Dog & Leventhal and is available

"Putting a book together was a daunting idea, specifically because I knew that I couldn’t just hand it over to anybody. The thing about the show is that it’s so personal, and I think at this point means so much to me, but also so much to the fans, that we’ve got a bit of a predicament in the sense that we can’t do anything half-assed", Dan Levy tells Variety with a laugh.

That means the 350-plus-page collector's item includes personal essays from cast members and Questions and Answers conducted by Black Dog & Leventhal publishing director Becky Koh; a map of Alexis' travels; the original, handwritten lyrics to "A Little Bit Alexis"; and chronological image collections of David's sweaters and Moira's movie posters, among other things.

Dan Levy further said, "One of the things that I really wanted for this book was for people to see elements of what went into the show in a spotless and clear way. For example, the photo of the receipt that Patrick gives David for his birthday. We put in a very clear, close-up photo of that receipt as a way for fans to get a better look at elements of the show that they may be only saw in passing."

Schitt's Creek creator said, "Another example is the Café Tropical menu, which was scanned for a spread in the book to feel like a "documented prop," rather than a reprinted image. I knew that I wanted a lot of it to be a celebration of the contribution that the fans have done for us. I’ve seen so much art, specifically, over the years that it felt necessary to integrate their voices alongside ours. Adding that it was a way to both give a "gift" to the fans, but also give them "ownership."

The actor, Dan Levy shared "I wanted the takeaway [to be] something fresh. It really did feel like if you were going to invest the money in the book that you [should get] something that honored your experience as a viewer, but also involved you in the process and gave something — information — you never knew before."
