Michael K. Williams death in his Brooklyn penthouse on Monday afternoon came as a shock to many. The five-time Emmy nominee actor well known for his character of Baltimore stick-up man Omar Little in The Wire, an HBO series is suspected to have died of heroin overdose, was 54.

The deceased was found dead in his house in the dining room with what appeared to be heroin on the kitchen table, sources said.

Marianna Shafran, who represented Michael for a long said that the family feels deep sorrow in announcing the death of Michael Kenneth Williams, and they have asked for privacy to mourn their impregnable loss.

Few members of family and friends were seen outside Williams house and so were few cops and the medical examiner’s team. Later the family and friends were seen hugging each other while the cops take evidence out of the house.

News of Michael’s death sparked a wave of grief and heartbreak among fans and former colleagues. A lot of them took to Twitter to show their agony.

Williams was widely loved and appreciated for his role in the ground-breaking series The Wire. He played a gay stick-up man Omar Little. Who robs drug dealers.

The wire was quite a popular show on television from 2002 to 2008 and it was five seasons long. Michael Kenneth Williams once said that Omar Little became an alter ego, a gay man who robs most gangster drug dealers, doesn’t do drugs, doesn’t like fancy cars or dressing up in fancy clothes. He's an outcast and Williams identified with him. Everything was about Omer, no one was calling Michael by his name and it was all about Omer. When the series ended, he was clueless About how to deal with all of it and he crumbled.

Michael was a fine actor who was appreciated for and won multiple nominations at the Emmys. He was seen in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire as Albert 'Chalky' White and also in a Netflix miniseries When They See Us in which he was seen convincing his son to sign on a false confession to the police.
