Jada Pinkett Smith finally opened up about the infamous altercation between her husband Will Smith and comedian-actor Chris Rock at the Academy Awards in 2022.

During a recent episode of Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith, and mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris discussed the impact of alopecia, which is a hair loss condition. As a result of the topic of discussion, Jada Pinkett Smith had to mention the infamous altercation from the Oscars 2022 because it occurred as a result of a joke made about her bald head, which is the result of alopecia. Later reports said that Chris Rock was unaware of Jada's health, or else he would not have made the joke.

Jada Pinkett Smith mentioned that on Oscar night, her greatest want is for the two educated, capable men, Will Smith and Chris Rock to be given the chance to sit and talk things over, recover from what had happened and eventually reunite. With the present situation of the globe, the actress and host of the program emphasized that everyone needs them both and that we all need each other more than before.

Jada Pinkett Smith later added until then, the renowned pair will keep doing what they've been doing for the previous 28 years, which is figuring out life along with their family, and she thanked everyone for listening to her. Talking about the impact of alopecia, Jada Pinkett Smith shared that the part that makes it hard for her is that it comes and goes, and that is stressful. She added that a patch grows and then another patch comes out, which gives her a lot of anxiety, but added that she looks at it and says to herself that that’s how her hair is going to look.

Jada Pinkett Smith stated at the start of the episode that this episode will be very important and that she will use this moment and opportunity to allow the alopecia family to talk about what it feels like to have this condition and to educate the public on the same. She also spoke to the guests, including a mother of a 12-year-old girl, Rio Allred, who was bullied over the condition and had committed suicide. Jada Pinkett Smith has mentioned that there will be more clarification on the matter but now right now, as the family is trying to heal from the situation.

Speaking of the Oscars, Chris Rock, who appeared on the stage to present an award, made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, and Will Smith, who was seated in the audience, walked on stage and slapped him. Will Smith was later announced as the winner of Best Actor for his splendid work as Richard Williams in King Richard. During his acceptance speech, Will Smith apologized to the audience and the Academy but not to Chris Rock.

Will Smith issued an apology on his social media account, saying that even though jokes at his expense are a part of the profession, a joke about Jada's physical condition was too much for him to handle, and he responded emotionally. The actor apologized to the actors who were present at the ceremony, the authorities, and Chris Rock in his public apology but he did not apologize to the comedian in person. After the actor announced his resignation from the Academy, the organization declared that the actor would be banned for the next ten years.
