Marriages are not an easy task, and while Kim Kardashian and Kanye West succeeded at it for a few years, they could not make it to the end. Or, the end for them came a bit sooner. Still, the Kardashian has a few things to be thankful for that she owes to Kanye, especially the fashion icon award she landed on this People's Choice Award event. 

The reality TV star got to finally win The Fashion Icon Award at this year's PCA ceremony on Tuesday night. The Kardashians have especially managed themselves as the lead ladies of fashion in the Western world, and Kim is at the top of her game, her getting to the award does not come as a surprise. However, thanking her former husband, with whom she is on the way to courts for divorce, is definitely a surprise, probably more so because she has already moved on with Pete Davidson.

Matching up to the necessity of the occasion, Kim looked dapper in a Balenciaga catsuit, which has become her personal style over these few years. The black velvet coat was paired with attached gloves and boots that she complemented with a very humongous pair of earrings and also added in Balenciaga Haute Couture Fall 2021 sunglasses for good measure. 

Tracee Ellis Ross handed over the award, and Kim could have been happier or more proud. The KKW beauty owner said, “To receive the award from the fashion icon herself, I am so honored. Thank you.” She added, “I’m humbled every single day that designers are willing to work with me. There was a time when they weren’t. Thank you, Zac Posen, who dressed me and took me to my first CFDA Awards, and so many amazing designers like Riccardo and Olivier that really believed in me." 

Of course, she did add that Kanye had a hand in getting her introduced to big designers as she said, "Well, probably talked into it by getting a call from Kanye.” Here, she went on to significantly thank Kanye for his contribution to her style, as she said, “To Kanye for really introducing me to the fashion world. I fell in love with fashion, and I’m so inspired by so many people. But again, this is like a dream that I get to wake up and wear these amazing clothes and try new things and take a risk. I’m so humbled.”

So, where does the couple actually stand in their relationship? Is Kim serious with Pete? Will she get back with Kanye, because this certainly is not the first time that Kim expressed gratitude for the Donda singer? 

Recently, during a talk at the We Are Supported By... podcast, Kim told hosts Kristen Bell and Monica Padman, “I got to a point—and maybe being in a relationship with Kanye for a decade, someone that absolutely didn’t care about likability factor or what any perception of him was as long as he was true to himself—that taught me so much in the best way of just being me and living in the moment.”

The singer opened up about how she “used to be such a people pleaser,” but being with Kanye, and actually growing up meant that she learned to “just be myself first” instead of stressing over how much someone else likes her. “You don’t have to please everyone,” said the reality TV star. “As long as I’m myself and as long as I’m doing it the way that I want to, like, you have one life and you’re living it for you. That taught me to just be more confident in myself and truly not care as much of what other people thought.”

Moreover, the couple also shares four children together, and if Kanye is to be believed, they all want their parents to be together. Hence, there is a lot of pressure for Kim even as she proceeds with the divorce. But Kanye is yet not ready to address the fact. Also, when gauged from Kim's interviews prior to the SNL parody and Pete Davidson romance, there was a chance that she could get back with her ex. 

Apparently, the SKIMS owner was "open" to putting her divorce on hold and maybe reconciling with Kanye. A source also shared that “Kim is not rushing the divorce,” prior to the major turn of events in Kim's love life. The insider had reported, “She and Kanye are in a good place right now, and she is not on a rushed timeline to push the divorce forward.”

Again, having children also means that the couple thinks about them often when the terms of separation loom over them. Hence, Kim was reported to be “really happy” and on good terms with Kanye “for the sake of the kids, who are really close to their dad.” Kim Kardashian and Kanye West share four children together: North, 8; Saint, 5; Chicago, 3; and Psalm, 2.

Not to forget, Kanye would really like to get back with Kim Kardashian, and he is not very subtle about what he wants. He shared a lengthy thanksgiving prayer recently asking Kim to come back to him for their kids and also addressed her as his wife and his recent interviews. An insider shared, “Kanye has expressed that he wants her back, and Kim is open to it but wants to focus first on rebuilding their foundation and friendship back stronger.”

Additionally, Kanye shared a news article by TMZ that mentioned Kanye believing that God will bring back Kim to him. The article stated: “There actually is a chance they could get back together. They've been spending time together privately and ‘working on rebuilding the foundation of their relationship.’”

But now that Kim is in a relationship, prophesying things for the former couple has become harder than ever. Only time would tell if the marriage would stand.
