Charlie Robert Watts, typically known as Charlie Watts, is a famous English musician and is renowned for being a part of the fun band “The Rolling Stones” as a drummer.

The 80-year-old “young heart” took his last breath on 24th August 2021. His death was announced by a sad statement that also remarked Watts as a cherished husband and a doting father as well as grandfather, who was also one of the marvelous drummers of his time.

Originally, Watts was a graphic artist who soon developed an interest in musical gigs, especially Jazz at a young age. His passion made him join the band Blues Incorporated. This was followed by his drum playing sessions in rhythm and blues clubs in London. Unknowing of his future, his practice sessions made him meet his future bandmates namely Keith Richards, Brian Jones, and Mick Dagger.

This sounds like a filmy story but believe me, every aspect of this story is true. This can serve as the best example of the unpredictability of the future and how God has his ways of making us connect with those who’ll lead us and walk with us on the route of our dreamlands!

Moving ahead, he left this band in January 1963 to be a part of “The Rolling Stones” and made his first public appearance as a group member in February 1963. He remained in the group ever since, marking a remarkable time span of 58 years (1963-2021).

His life as a musician earned him many prestigious accolades like making it into the UK Music Hall Of Fame, and even getting his name enrolled in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. These are huge gigs for a band musician, but Watts made it easily.

This “Wembley Whammer” as regarded by Jagger not only worked with The Rolling Stones but also made tours with his own group named the “Charlie Watts Quintet” and even showed his presence at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London with “Charlie Watts Tentet.”

His death disappointed many but it struck very hard to his band members. The legendary members launched their tour named "No Filter" Sunday in America at the dome in St. Louis, which was delayed due to the pandemic. This concert was marked as the first one for the band without their drummer of around six decades. The show began with drum beats and Watts' pictures flashing on the screen. It was their style of paying their tribute to their legendary bandmate and a friend for more than a half-century!

Jagger marked the same on the tour saying that the tour marked their first without Charlie and everyone is missing him on and off stage.

Even if Charlie is no longer present with us, but his charm, his music, and memories will always be with his loved ones!

Presenting a video of the drum player, playing his energetic and enchanting music to remember how good he used to swing and play with the musical beats-

May the beautiful soul rest in peace.
