Channing Tatum gets candid about 'Dog' and 'Magic Mike's Last Dance'.

The Magic Mike actor, Channing Tatum who is gearing up for the third and the last installment of the Magic Mike movie, titled, ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’, recently spoke to IndieWire and joked about how he’d love to play male stripper when he’s 70 years old.

Channing said, “The only one I said I’d actually do — before we decided on this version — was the “Grumpy Old Men” version when we’re like 70. When we’re 70, I want to get the team back together, for sure.” To which Reid Carolin added that it’s not actually a bad idea. She mentioned that ‘Magic Mike’ is sort of like a contemporary ‘Downtown Abbey’.

During the interview, Channing Tatum was asked about the fact that he had once said that he is done with the character and do not wish to come back but he is doing the third part so what made him take up the role for one last time, to which the actor said, “It was actually Reid and Soderbergh. In my opinion, we had chewed up all the meat on the bone, story-wise. Pun intended, I guess. They’re essentially movies about guys made for women. We didn’t plan on making a second one. Then all of our ancillary characters were so good and fun that we felt like, “Let’s do another movie and give those characters more real estate that we didn’t have before.”

Channing added more to his explanation, "Once we did that, we felt like there was no other story. Let’s just like get out of jail. I actually like the second movie more than the first one. It’s more fun and I think more of what people expected the first film to be. I obviously love that one, too. What we learned in the live show was really interesting, too. I didn’t want to make a live show because I was like, “I know this world, it’s kind of dark and weird.” Our whole idea was that we could change that, revolution that in terms of what that experience could be for women. We went out and actually made it with women. It was an education. What we made is today my favorite thing that we’ve made in our careers. If you ever have time in Vegas, please, go.”

The actor who is recently seen in ‘Dog’ was also asked about his hiatus and now evaluating his options, to which he explained, “I think I’ve been pretty clear about what I do want to do. I took myself off the market a few years ago. I literally had my reps tell the studios that I was taking some time. There were a bunch of reasons, but one of the largest reasons that I haven’t talked about as much is that Reid and I really wanted to do direct.” Channing added that if he just kept taking offers, the direction would have never happened because of the busy schedule. Explaining further he added, “We really needed to lick our wounds from the “Gambit” situation and figure out what we were going to do. If I had just kept on being on sets for other movies we never would’ve started directing anything. You have to be all in and be there 100 percent of the time. You have to be ready to go. That was one of the two biggest reasons.”

Revealing a little about highly anticipated ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’, Channing Tatum had previously shared with E! News while preparing for the role, "I am very sore. There's a lot of lifting happening, I can say that." He further added, "I've been friends with our choreographer Alison Faulk for something like almost 15 years. Making these dances up, like trying to figure them out with a best friend, you're just like, 'No, no, you've got to just put your leg here...' It's just hilarious."

Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin teamed up recently for their new project titled, ‘Dog’ and with the movie, Channing Tatum marks his directorial debut. The movie is a buddy comedy that follows the misadventures of two former Army Rangers on a wild road trip. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Channing Tatum revealed that he had one rule while filming and directing which was ‘do not let the dog die’. The actor explained, "We love dogs over here. It's one of those things, no one really wants one of those movies. I think that's one of those deadly sins... kill the one thing that everyone loves in a movie. Just don't kill the dog — you can kill almost anyone else."

Talking about his bonding with the dog which is played by three different Belgian Malinois dogs named Lana, Britta, and Zuza, Channing said, “It's the themes and the feeling — it's more the bond and the relationship that Lulu and I had. I had her from the time that she was six weeks old. She was like my child, my shadow — she was everything. And this is a very, very, very different story.” Channing on directing added, "Just to be really frank about it, I don't really feel like I directed it. I really think that like I directed the dog and Reid directed me. I don't know if I've directed my first movie really."

‘Dog’ stars Jane Adams, Kevin Nash, Q’orianka Kilcher, Ethan Suplee, Emmy Raver-Lampam, Nicole LaLiberté, Luke Forbes, and Ronnie Gene Belvins and is now out for the audience. Channing Tatum states that he does not know whether the movie was a smart decision or not but he is very proud of the movie that they have made.
