Dove Cameron feels her life has changed for good.

Dove Cameron, who identified herself as "very queer" on an Instagram live stream back in 2020 and subsequently came out on the cover of Gay Times in 2021, said that she feels that her life has changed for the better since she decided to come out. The singer recently shared her experience in a recent interview with E! News for iHeartMedia's Can't Cancel Pride.

She described her first foray into the conversation about her sexuality as her first time being herself in public, and she added that while there is a narrative that when a queer person speaks about their identity, it's as if they've been hiding a secret their whole lives and it's a big revelation, in her experience, it wasn't like that because she always knew who she was, a proud queer woman..

Dove Cameron revealed that she was not hiding her indecency from the public, but that she just had to reconcile her personal and professional lives. She added that she was not worried about people knowing who she loved, but that she was afraid of people having access to her human parts in a business she calls anti-human. The singer went on to say that it was an emotional experience for her, but that it ended up being the best thing that could have happened to her.

Dove stated during the interview that she is in such a better mental state now and is now using her platform to lend support to causes near and dear to her heart, being an ally for the LGBTQ community and urging her fans to be allies too. She also shared that social media has changed so much for activism and community involvement and she would love to share with her fans how to support their queer friends, urge them to have queer conversations, and create an open and safe space within themselves, in the community and within the circle, which is going to be helpful for individuals who identify as queer.

When she looks back on her journey, she believes that everything happened for a reason, and she now knows that she is on the right track. She also stated that the destinies of individuals or the people they are meant to be will always be who they are, but it's just a matter of getting out of the way and accepting oneself. Dove concluded that it is the finest service one can do to oneself, and if one can do so, even the most improbable things can happen.

Last month, Dove Cameron opened up about how she has been feeling about gender and said that she has been struggling lately with the concept of self, her inner relationship to know who she is, and her outer perception see who she feels she has never known but other people do. She stated that she has been hiding mirrors recently, feeling unattractive in clothing that used to make her feel beautiful, and that she has been scared by her identity and image at times, while at other times being completely absorbed in something new and peripheral to her. She concluded that instead of blaming herself for not understanding what she is feeling or where she is heading, she could explain that she is in the process of exploring, suffering more than half of the time, and attempting to preserve a peaceful nonjudgmental curiosity.
