The 34th GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies, which financially support GLAAD's tasks to boost LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) recognition, will be held in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the Beverly Hilton, and in New York City on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Hilton Midtown.

In a "GLAAD Drag Story Time" video that just premieres on GLAAD's YouTube, current RuPaul's Drag Race stars Salina EsTitties and Sasha Colby revealed nominees in select GLAAD Media Awards categories.

Sasha Colby commented on the video on recent terrorist attacks on drag performers across the country, saying that performers like them are being attacked with anti-LGBTQ bills, nasty protest movements, and even violence. Sasha said the viewers that what's the scariest thing, people with guns, not book queens!

GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement that with abuse, harmful legislation, ridiculous propaganda, and other threats on the LGBTQ community on the rise, it's more essential than ever that the society is visible and represented in the stories that the rest of the world views in film, television, music, journalism, and other forms of media. Sarah added that this year, they have more nominations than ever before to represent tremendously impactful initiatives that entertain, educate, and promote LGBTQ acceptance. Continuing Sarah stated that this year's shortlisted media images are adored by audiences and are generating real change, from different storylines that debunk myths about transgender youth to kids and family programming that enables all families to be represented.
