Cameron Diaz is returning to the spotlight.

Actress Cameron Diaz, who stepped away from the spotlight, will soon be seen in a project with actor Jamie Foxx. Talking to CBS Mornings’ Dana Jacobson, the actress shared the reason for her eight-year hiatus or stepping away from the movies.

The actress’ last role before taking an eight-year hiatus was as Miss Hannigan in 2014’s "Annie," alongside Jamie Foxx, and now, after eight years, she will be back on-screen alongside Jamie Foxx for a Netflix movie titled "Back in Action." It has been reported that Benji Madden, Cameron Diaz’s husband, had encouraged her to sign up for the project and get back to acting. The announcement was made on Jamie Foxx’s Instagram account and an insider mentioned that the actress is nervous yet excited to be back on set and start filming.

When asked why she stayed away from the industry for so long, Cameron responded that when someone is doing something well and is conscious that it has taken up a lot of their time, it's kind of a lovely thing for them to let go. She described it as being somewhat equivalent to taking a step back for a moment and viewing the situation from a distance to see what they might do better and more activities that would help them feel more complete. In addition, Cameron said that's precisely what she did and also that she felt that she could use all of her energy and time at home with her family and she was very happy to do so.

When the actress was asked if she missed acting after all these years, she said that she missed the craft-like qualities of acting or filmmaking, claiming that it is a unique skill set that is enjoyable to use and participate in. She further clarified that one had to be prepared for the lifestyle change since it is one.

Asked about balancing work and family, Cameron Diaz said that everybody has only 100% and one has to constantly keep figuring out how to divide their 100% to spread out equally into the parts of life that matter. Cameron Diaz is married to Benji Madden and they share a daughter, Raddix, who will be turning three in December. Talking about how motherhood had changed her, Cameron Diaz mentioned that just being able to influence a child who is developing is something that she loves and stated that every mother goes through this phase where she would look at her child doing something for the first time and think that they had done the same thing when they were at their kids’ age.

During the conversation, Cameron Diaz also discussed Avaline, the organic and vegan wine brand she and her friend and business partner Katherine Power created in 2020. Before jokingly revealing that her husband probably got married to her due to her cooking skills, Cameron Diaz said that she likes to cook and that food is her love language. Speaking of Avaline, she remarked that although they were first told that they could not do it and later went on to face several challenges, they eventually overcame them and are very proud of it.

Cameron Diaz said that what started with a simple innocent girl talk idea over a glass of wine was soon converted into a label which is a game changer for the wines since its vegan and they are very proud of it. Cameron and Katherine made a commitment to source the grapes for the wine from organic farmers from around the world and to take a closer look at the wine-filtering process. The actress explained that having to launch Avaline in the market is just one step closer to providing the industry with a road map to something they may have not considered before which is a vegan wine.

As someone who has long been dedicated to health and wellbeing and has written two books on the subject, including one called "The Longevity Book" on aging, Cameron Diaz's choice to start Avaline appears to have been an easy one.

She said that because there is no way to halt aging, why not live it to the fullest? She also suggested that experiencing aging in its whole, rather than just the one component on which we tend to concentrate, can help you age more gracefully. She made it clear that there are no judgments made here, and if someone feels inclined to do so, that's wonderful. However, she added that people should not forget to consider all the other factors involved in what is happening as they move forward.
