Marvel Studios The Eternals director Chloe Zhao while speaking with Al Horner revealed that she wants to direct a Star Wars film. The Academy Award-winning director shared the detail when she was asked about the possibility of directing a Star Wars film.

The interviewer asked, "Now that you have proven that you can tackle a big blockbuster in a huge franchise with Eternals, would you like to direct a Star Wars movie?"

Zhao has a carefully constructed answer that amounted to a yes, explaining, "Hmmmm. I have to tread very carefully with what I say here. [laughs] Yes. Let’s just say, it’s a world I have so much reverence for because it was such an important part of my life. [laugh]"

Prior to Zhao's comments on the possibility of directing a Star Wars film, just a month ago President Kevin Feige also praised her for brilliantly directing 'The Eternals.'

He said, "The truth is, we would not have even attempted this if it weren't for Chloé." Feige added, "We thought, here's a filmmaker who is equal parts cinematic visionary and genre nerd. She can out talk any of us when it comes to manga and Star Wars and Marvel comics. It's quite an astounding combination. And this movie, I think, represents all of the immense multitudes of Chloé."

Previously, Zhao also shared her experience while filming The Eternals with the huge cast and crew of the film.

"It was probably the windiest cliff that I have ever been on," Zhao said. She added, "You'd have to have a helicopter to achieve the wind that we had that day. We had our whole cast standing on that cliff in their costumes, and we played really loud operatic music on the speaker, just blasting that through the wind. Seeing my cast coming together in formation as the Eternals, with the beauty of this ancient-looking landscape, and the ocean and the sky, that was… [Laughs] I mean, I couldn't stand because I felt like I was getting lifted by the wind. But other than that, it was pretty awesome."

Last month, The leader of the Eternals, Salma Hayek, who will portray the character of Ajak also praised the director Zhao in an interview for handling her character so patiently and exceptionally. Hayek also talked about how complex it was for her to play the role of Ajak.

She said, "Chloé decided to tackle the concept of leadership from the perspective of motherhood... I'm not a mother. I'm an alien. I can't have kids."

"However, my character used to be a man in the comics, now it's a woman. So instead of just changing the gender, I proposed to [Zhao] to really bring something that is very specific to womanhood."

Hayek added, "I need to guide them into things... we have a mission in life, in the world. A mother also needs to guide her kids," Hayek continued. "When they misbehave, she will reprimand them, but always from the perspective of motherhood... There's an empathy to it - although I'm not allowed to have empathy, because I'm an alien. So that makes it interesting."
