The restraining order against Ricky Martin has been dropped.

According to recent reports, Ricky Martin’s nephew Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, who had accused him of sexual abuse and obtained a restraining order against the singer, had asked the Puerto Rican court to dismiss the case, and his request was obliged.

The temporary restraining order was not extended by the court, as anticipated, and the accuser (Ricky Martin's nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez) confirmed to the Puerto Rican Court that his decision to dismiss the case was his alone and that no other third party was involved in persuading him to change his decision, according to a statement from Ricky Martin's attorneys, Joaqun Monserrate Matienzo, Carmelo Dávila, and Harry Massanet Pastrana. The nephew was pleased with the counsel he received from a lawyer.

The statement went on to say that the temporary restraining order and this lawsuit were nothing more than false accusations made by a distressed person who had no evidence to back them up. The lawyers expressed their happiness that Ricky Martin received justice and is now able to advance in his life and profession. Despite using Zoom to appear in court in Puerto Rico, Ricky Martin was not required to talk since the complainant had chosen to drop the case.

In a video that TMZ posted, Ricky Martin addressed the cameras directly and explained that he was there because he wanted to speak to them to begin his recovery process. He went on to say that because he was following a protocol that required him to wait to speak until he was in front of a court, he was prohibited from defending himself for two weeks.

The musician stated that he is going to tell everyone the truth, which is that it has been extremely difficult and terrible for him, his family, and his friends. He expressed gratitude that these charges have been disproven. He concluded that he does not want anyone to be in this situation and said to the person who made these absurd accusations that he wishes the best for them and hopes that they get help so that they can begin a new life that is filled with love, truth, and joy and does not harm anyone else.

Ricky Martin said that now his priority is to heal and he is going to heal with music, which is something he does the best. He thanked his friends and fans who believed in him and were there for him in such a tough time. Ricky added that people don’t have a clue how much strength he gains from the fans and with every comment they write on his social media. After wishing them love and light, Ricky said that everyone should move forward with the same strength and passion.

Last week, it was claimed that Ricky Martin's 21-year-old nephew Dennis Yadiel Sanchez had a seven-month romance with the singer and he was the one who secured the temporary restraining order against him in Puerto Rico. Ricky Martin disputed the claims of him being romantically involved with his nephew and called them nasty and untrue. In his lawsuit, the nephew said that once he sought to sever the relationship with Ricky Martin, he became the subject of physical and psychological assaults.

Marty Singer, the singer's attorney, stated at the time in a statement to Entertainment Tonight that the person who made this accusation is battling serious mental health issues, unfortunately, and clarified that Ricky Martin has never had, and would never have, a romantic or sexual relationship with his nephew. The attorney continued that the notion is unpleasant in addition to being false and they all pray for the person to receive the assistance he so desperately needs. However, he added that they most eagerly anticipate that the horrible case will be dismissed as soon as the court has a chance to review the evidence.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Ricky Martin also denied the accusation by releasing a statement that said that the protection order obtained against him is based on entirely false charges, thus he will react through the court procedure with the truth and dignity that defines him. The singer said in his statement that he is not allowed to comment more on the case but would like to thank everyone for their love and support and mentioned that he sees them and highly appreciates them. Ricky Martin has been married to painter Jwan Yosef since 2017.
