Salma Hayek Shares Insights About Her Character Ajak In The Eternals

The Eternals star Salma Hayek has recently revealed a lot of interesting new details about her character in the upcoming superhero film. Hayek who will be portraying the comic book character Ajak, the leader of the Eternals in an interview revealed some details about her character. She said, "ChloƩ decided to tackle the concept of leadership from the perspective of motherhood... I'm not a mother. I'm an alien. I can't have kids," Hayek added. "However, my character used to be a man in the comics, now it's a woman. So instead of just changing the gender, I proposed to [Zhao] to really bring something that is very specific to womanhood."

The actress further added, "I need to guide them into things... we have a mission in life, in the world. A mother also needs to guide her kids," Hayek continued. "When they misbehave, she will reprimand them, but always from the perspective of motherhood... There's an empathy to it - although I'm not allowed to have empathy, because I'm an alien. So that makes it interesting..."

The Marvel star was recently seen celebrating her 55th birthday in a traditional Mexican way with co-star Angelina Jolie. She shared the celebration video for her fans on Instagram. The fans in the video got to see Salma and Jolie together having a lot of fun which even includes smashing Hayek's face into the cake.

The cast for Marvel Studios The Eternals includes Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie in the lead roles as Ajak and Thena along with Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, and Kit Harrington as Dane Whitman. The film was earlier planned to be released last year but due to the impact of Covid-19, all the theatres had to shut down. The film will now hit the theaters later this year on 5th November.
