Model, TV personality, cookbook author Chrissy Teigen is celebrating six months of sobriety and sharing with her fans that since she decided to give up on alcohol, she has been feeling ‘happier and more present than ever'.

Chrissy took to her social media to share her happiness and a proud moment with her fans and followers with a caption, "6 months no alcohol! Honestly kind of sucks saying it because even though I don’t ever crave it now, time has not exactly flown by haha. I prob won’t be excited til a larger milestone like at leasssst 5 years, and sometimes I don’t even know if I necessarily won’t ever drink again? It’s pretty cool. I look forward to having my full body reset after 1 year, then reevaluating to see my new hopes and wishes for the future!"

Fans and friends were quick to appreciate the model on her six-month mark, John Legend wrote, “So proud of you my love”. Singer Katy Perry wrote, 'Beautiful’, whereas Octavia Spencer wrote, "6 months is something to celebrate. You hit a rough spot in the road and changed your tires. Now you're enjoying the ride. That's something to celebrate."

In her post, she reflected on her sober journey and shared that she has no idea what she is doing but being sober has given her more energy and less anxiety. In September 2021, she celebrated 50 days of sobriety and shared, "Today is my 50-day sobriety streak. It should be nearly a year but I had a few (wine) hiccups in the road. This is my longest streak yet! I still dunno if I'll never drink again but I do know it no longer serves me in ANY way. I don't get more fun, I don't dance, I don't get relaxed. I get sick, fall asleep, and wake up sick, having missed what was probably a fun night. I had my fun with it and appreciate anyone that can enjoy it responsibly."

In October the ‘Cravings’ cookbook author appeared on ‘Today’ show where she discussed what she had learned from the public condemnation she received after her year's old tweet made their way back into the spotlight and how she decided to stay sober has helped her. Chrissy shared, "You learn so much in the moments where you do lose so much. Your world is kinda turned upside down. For me, it was a big moment of like, 'Wow, I need to find out how I can be better, how I can grow from this, learn from this. There's that old cliché of 'I'm glad it happened,' but truly it made me a stronger person, a better person. That's when I went sober, I went clean. I'm actually 100 days sober today, and I'm so excited. I feel so good. I feel very clear-headed. I feel like I've done the work, and I hope these people can forgive and be able to welcome the fact that hopefully, they've seen me be better.”

Later in December, Chrissy credited Holly Whitaker’s book, ‘Quit Like a Woman: The Radical Choice to Not Drink in a Culture Obsessed with Alcohol’, in motivating and helping her to take a step throughout the transition. The model shared, "I was done with making an ass of myself in front of people (I'm still embarrassed), tired of day drinking and feeling like (expletive) by 6, not being able to sleep.”

In 2017, the model and cookbook author spoke to Cosmopolitan where she mentioned that she was “point blank, just drinking too much” when she had decided to ditch alcohol. Chrissy went on to explain that she has a history of alcohol abuse in her family, “Nobody really brought it up to me. They just assumed that it was OK because I always felt OK the next morning [after drinking a lot]. I knew in my heart it wasn’t right. I used to think it was kind of nutty to have to go totally sober. But now I get it. I don’t want to be that person. … I have to fix myself.”

Chrissy added, “I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show. And then I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected.”

Chrissy Teigen shared in February 2021 with Ellen DeGeneres, that losing her son Jack in September 2020 had helped her to bring more clarity to other aspects of her life. “Being Thai and being raised in a house that was very open about loss, I think it was really helpful because … it was a transformative thing for me. In a way, [my late son, Jack], really saved me. I don’t think I would have discovered therapy and then sobriety and this path of really feeling good about myself and feeling like a new person.”
