Singer Courtney Love recalled an incident that occurred in 1995 when actor Johnny Depp saved her life after she overdosed outside The Viper Room. The Viper Room was initially co-owned by Johnny Depp and was an iconic club located on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California, and every celebrity in the 90s had been to The Viper Room.
Courtney Love took to her social media to share a video where she mentioned that she does not want to make any judgments publicly but said that she wants to share an incident when Johnny Depp gave her CPR in 1995 when she overdosed outside The Viper Room. Courtney Love, at the time, was dealing with the loss of her husband and Niravana's singer, Kurt Cobain, who passed away in 1994 at the age of 27, by suicide, leaving her and their daughter Frances Bean behind.
Courtney Love shared that Johnny Depp had reached out to her daughter various times to just check up on both of them and also stated that he wrote a letter to Frances Bean on her 13th birthday amid Kurt Cobain’s unfortunate death and Courtney Love’s battle with addiction. She claims that her daughter never showed her the letter Johnny Depp wrote to her when she had to go through a lot with social workers and everything.
The singer explained to her followers that Johnny Depp sent limos to Frances Bean’s school where all the social workers were crawling around for her and all her friends to go to the Pirates of the Caribbean movie and added that they did not ask for it but Johnny Depp did it himself and has done it a bunch of times, including giving Frances her seat at the premiere with her name on it.
Courtney Love mentioned in the video that she has never seen the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but Frances Bean loves all of them and recalled that when she was merely 13 years old, she told her mother that Johnny Depp saved her life. Towards the end of the video, Courtney Love mentioned that she has empathy for Amber Heard as she has been one of the most hated women in America and the world before TikTok happened, which is why she has a lot of empathy for Amber Heard. She added, "Can you imagine being her?"
Courtney added that if someone uses a movement for their gain and inhabits queer feminist intersectional space, they abuse that moment, and then she added that she hopes justice is served, whatever it is. She later also mentioned that she never intended to bully Amber Heard with her post and later deleted the video and apologizing to the actress. In her interview with The Guardian in 2006, she said that she had nothing bad to say about Johnny Depp; he was a very smart, brilliant actor and he saved her life.
Courtney Love is not the only one who came out in support of Johnny Depp; Eva Green, who starred alongside the actor in 2012's Dark Shadows,’ also shared a picture on her social media stating that she does not doubt that Johnny Depp will emerge with his good name and wonderful heart and life will be better than it ever was for him.
Winona Ryder, an ex-partner of Johnny Depp, stated during the time Johnny Depp was legally involved in a lawsuit against The Sun for libel after he was described as a "wife-beater". Winona said that the idea that Johnny Depp is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny she knew and loved. The statement continued that the actor was never violent towards her or abusive, and she never witnessed him getting violent or abusive with anyone else either.
Javier Bardem, who worked with Johnny Depp on Before Night Falls and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, revealed in 2020 that he adored Johnny and that he was a true gentleman and an extremely generous and caring friend to him and his family. On top of that, Javier added that he has had the opportunity to work with him twice and has experienced his respectful attitude towards every single member of the crew, alongside his unique and hilarious sense of humor.
Javier Bardem added that he stands by Johnny Depp because he has always seen and felt a true caring and loving man in him who is extraordinarily talented and a unique artist who has listened to anyone who needed help. The actor added that he loves Johnny, but he respects him more and deeply and he thanks him for being the free and careless little boy he is in his art and the mature and loving man Johnny Depp is in the lives of others. Javier Bardem added that Johnny is a good human being who was trapped in the lies and manipulations of toxic beings and that he has always been there for anyone who needs him.
Vanessa Paradis, long-time partner, and mother of his children, shared that she has known Johnny Depp for more than 25 years, they have been together for 14 years, they raised their two children together, and through all these years, she has known him to be kind, attentive, generous and non-violent. Vanessa added that everyone on set loved Johnny Depp because he is humble and respectful to everyone, as well as being one of the best actors this generation has seen. Talking about the accusations, she said that she has known Johnny Depp from her personal experience for many years and he was never violent or abusive towards her or anyone she knows.
