Sex Education has become a cult-favorite show over the years. With a great cast that features amazing inclusivity and highly relatable teenage life experiences, the series sheds light on all the coming-of-age struggles of young teens. In its third season, the show has done great work on the stories of previously side characters like Otis and Maeve and bestowed them the pleasures of center stage.

The Season 3 of Sex education brought in a few new characters that pretty quickly found great roles in the plotline. One of the characters to look out for is Hope, the head-teacher, and Cal, a new non-binary student. The show is extremely realistic where the personalities of the characters are concerned, giving them morals that can't be entirely grouped into villainous or heroic. The likable characters are like real three-dimensional people with complex characterization. Yet still, a few dominant qualities manage to peek through. Here are all the main characters of the show with their most prominent traits.

Ruby Matthews and her Confidence

Filling in the shoes of that one mean girl in your high school who has nothing else to do, Ruby grew out to be a pretty decent character over time. She is outspoken, bold, and not afraid to say things that might be confused with frugality, yet she manages to balance a pretty balanced role. Her vulnerability and insecurities peek through when she has to introduce her boyfriend to her father. Still, she stays in control of her confidence and cool.

She is pretty reserved, to say the least, yet she opens up about her love for Otis and doesn't lose her self-perception and assuredness when Otis rejects her. The young lady is brave enough to have a word or few with the head-teacher Hope in the third season and is not afraid of what might then fall her way. She exudes control and poise in most of her moments.

Lily Iglehart and her uniqueness

Everyone wants to be unique, but only the brave have the courage to be different, and Lily is one person who doesn't shy away from her unique personality. Seen frequently pouring over extraterrestrial theories, Lily is quirky and weird, but in a way, that can be considered great. She might have to deal with self-awareness issues but usually is pretty clear about herself as an individual and is true to herself.

The teen enjoys herself a great joke and laughs heartily. She is faced with obstacles in the third season, where she has to embark on a journey to find herself once again. Ridiculed for her beliefs and story by Hope, she tries changing who she is and yet once again finds her way to who she actually is. Lily might have to become the butt end of jokes of many for what she thinks is true and yet unapologetically has a firm belief in herself.

Ola Nyman and her friendship

Ola might be a bit problematic but carries through for her friends at last. She showed a cinch in character when she was majorly jealous of Maeve during her relationship with Otis. Ola isn't very tolerant of her girlfriend. Lily's beliefs and shows little appreciation for what she has faith in. Yet, she proves to be a worthy friend and an attentive listener when Adam opens up to her.

Adam is a character who can be ranked the topmost secretive character in the show and yet finds that Ola could be the one who would listen to him. Ola listens and sympathizes with his love troubles and his identity issues. Adam doesn't have many people to confide in at Moordale high, and yet Ola listening to him is a big thing.

Aimee Gibbs and her considerations

Aimee Gibbs can make you crack up like no other character in Sex Education and always has a good line to say. An extremely considerate and caring friend, Aimee can be counted on for a good piece of advice or her general concern for others. She always stands beside Maeve to help her through thick and thin and doesn't step back even when Maaeve lets her down.

Aimee even steps ahead to pay for Maeve so that she too could attend the school trip. Maeve, for her part, doesn't appreciate the gesture and takes offense despite the fact that Aimee was just being considerate and wanted her friend with her. She is also the number one fangirl of Maeve-Oti's ship and wants them to be a thing. On the other hand, Ola intends to break up with Steve and yet can't get to do the task because she is hesitant to hurt his feelings.

Jackson Marchetti and his principles

Jackson was introduced into the series as your typical high school jock, but his character developed considerably over the years showing more depth to the role that he plays. Jackson is an incredibly passionate athlete with an urge to do great, which takes a toll on his mental health. His extreme devotion leads to anxiety and the worsening of it.

Still, the character comes with a considerably high moral ground and a conscience. He knows the difference between wrong from right and stands up for what needs to be defended. Fortunately, he has the good sense of using his trait for himself, too, as he calls out his mother for putting too much pressure on him. He also isn't afraid of standing up to his friend Viv who supports Hope when she terribly insults Cal. He also has to refute his place as the head boy just because he is backboned enough to stand against Hope.

Adam Groff and his coming to awareness

It is a great experience to see a character slowly come to his senses and see what they usually hide behind a tough, troublesome behavior. Eric is one of the characters who gradually realize more about himself as the series continues. Adam was first portrayed as the school bully who was dating Aimee and had an unsavory relationship with his father.

He troubles Erik the most and later realizes that is because he was attracted to him. He hid behind his own charade of a touch exterior but finally faced his many problems and flaws. He finds ways to better himself and become a better partner to Erik, to whom he learns to relay his emotions. But unfortunately, in Season 3, the two find that they can't work together anymore.

Otis Milburn and his capability

Otis is one of the most likable characters in the lead of the show. He seems to be ashamed of his mother's career choice as she is a sex therapist by profession but soon realizes that he can use her wisdom on the topic for his own benefit. He comes up with the idea of setting up a sex clinic at the school itself and uses his expertise to develop a close relationship with Maeve.

Otis tends to be in his own element at times, but he is always capable of finding a solution and helping his friends. His capability as a great sex therapist sorts out the problems of many couples at the school, and he eventually benefits from the lessons, too. Now that he is finally not ashamed of what his mother does and found a niche he can work in, he might choose the field as his own career option as he grows up.
