If you are a fan of Romy & Michele's High School Reunion and are hoping for a sequel, know that Lisa Kudrow is right alongside you rooting for a second part to the 1997 film.

Lisa Kudrow has given her views about a probable sequel to the film Romy & Michele's High School Reunion. The Friends star was cast as Michele in the film. Her lead co-star in the film was Mira Sorvino, who played the character of Romy.

The two were given the role of not too bright best friends. Yet they always had the best of intentions in their heart. The story follows the two as they plan to construct an extreme prank so that they could make an impression on their old classmates when they meet them at their 10-year high school reunion.

The film featured a directorial debut by David Mirkin who is known for his work on Heartbreakers. Along with Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino, the film also starred Janeane Garofalo, Alan Cumming, Camryn Manheim, and Justin Theroux

While the film did not particularly rule the box offices back then, it managed to scrape by with good reviews and decent earnings. Now decades later, Romy & Michele's High School Reunion is remembered as a cult classic production from the 1990s.

Around the time Kudrow appeared on the sets of film back in the day, she was enjoying the peak of her success in the famous American sitcom series, Friends. She starred in the series from 1994 through 2004.

Her popular stint in film enabled her to maintain a long-standing career in comedy series and films. Included in the long array of film and series credits named to Lisa Kudrow, there are  Analyze This, Happy Endings, Easy A, The Girl On The Train, and Neighbors.

The shows she was cast in include Bojack Horseman, The Comeback,  Scandal Space Force and Web Therapy.

Owing to her stunning performance and acting brilliance, Mira Sorvino also won herself an Oscar Award.

She was given the honor of the Best Supporting Actress in 1996 for the film Mighty Aphrodite. She also starred in Killers, American Crime Story, Falling Skies,  The Replacement, and Shining Vale.

Kudrow acknowledged the rumors of a possible sequel to her 1997 film with Mira Sorvino when talking with People in an interview. She shared that she will be happy to indulge the probability of Romy and Michele 2.

In fact, she also revealed that the original film's writer, Robin Schiff, is already in talks about creating a new film. Though Kudrow is interested in the second part of the potential sequel, she is particular about the fact that the film needs to have a great script.

She detailed that it would be "fun" to make the sequel of Romy and Michele. The actresses had already once relived through their characters of the iconic dup back in 2020 as they presented the SAG Awards. Of course, the reprisal gave fans the hope that the making of a sequel might be underway.

Also important to mention, Sorvino herself is pretty interested to take the film a step further and work on a sequel for it. During the 2020 awards events, she claimed that she was aware of Lisa and Robin Schiff wanting to work on Romy and Michele 2.

She hoped that Alan Cumming might also be interested in it, and she had also heard the rumors that Janeane Garofalo would want to work on it. Though the actress could not remark further on the status of the probable second addition to the film as it is Disney who can share the news, she made it clear that if the sequel is ever in play, she will be back reprising her role.

Apart from expressing her interest to join the film sequel, she also claimed that she loved working with Lisa Kudrow and would go to any length to work with her again. Regardless, Sorvino is still on the top of her game and recently worked in the drama Sound of Freedom.

She is also all set to star in Lamborghini, a biopic which also stars Frank Grillo and Gabriel Byrne. On the other hand, Lisa Kudrow is working on Better Nate Than Ever for the Disney+ adaptation.

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion was released 25 years ago. Though there will be a massive gap between the two storylines of the films if there will ever be a sequel, there is still the hope that the fans of Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino will enjoy watching the film.

The film is most likely to be premiered on a streaming platform as a theatrical production is not likely for the sequel. Romy and Michele could be released on Disney+ if the studios still hold the rights to the production. It can also be released on Hulu.
