Cloudy with a chance of meatballs

Directed and written by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, 'Cloudy with a chance of meatballs is a precious find when it comes to comedies on Netflix. Starring Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Andy Samberg, James Caan, and Terry Crews, the animated movie takes you on a hilarious ride around a town that has food raining from the skies. Dreamy, right? Flint Lockwood, an outcast genius, wishes to return to the good graces of his town with his invention that helps food rain from the sky. He becomes quite popular in the area, considering the ongoing economic crisis until the people have to face the f(l)ood.

American Ultra

Directed by Nima Nourizadeh and written by Max Landis, American Ultra is a comedy joy ride featuring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart. Mike Howell (Jesse), a stoner, is being pursued by the CIA when he finds that he has a superpower! What comes next is a pure chaotic action comedy with Mike and his girlfriend on the run while Mike uses his power to defeat all his enemies. 

Fun with Dick and Jane

The 2005 movie still continues to serve laughs on Netflix. Starring Jim Carrey, Tea Leoni, Alec Baldwin, and Richard Jenkins, Fun with Dick and Jane is not your typical boyfriend-girlfriend looting the bank picture. The hilarious film written by Judd Apatow and Nicholas Stoller and directed by Dean Parisot comes loaded with belly laugh-inducing moments. The story takes after the original 1977 film of the same name where a guy, Dick, loses his job just after getting promoted and now struggles to make ends meet. Dick and Jane eventually agree to loot the CEO responsible for their condition, and everything that ensues is pure comedy. 

The Death of Stalin

There is something very funny with the title of this movie that instantly makes people want to click on 'watch.' Filled to the brim with dark satire, the film by Armando Iannucci is a perfect match for people who do not enjoy regular humor. The film casts Steve Buscemi, Jeffrey Tambor, Rupert Friend, Jason Isaacs, among others, in the comedic casting. The film doesn't stop short of ridiculous, and each terrifying moment adds more to the laughs. The political comedy takes off after the death of the fascist leader, Joseph Stalin, and shows everything political and treacherous, and frail. 

To All the Boys I've Loved Before

The young-adult movie is based on a novel of the same name by Jenny Han and will make you relive your high school, minus the stress of being popular or a nerd. Directed by Susan Johnson and written by Sofia Alvarez, the sweet romantic comedy stars Lana Condor, Janel Parrish, Anna Cathcart, and public heartthrob Noah Centineo. The movie shows the young life struggles of an American-Korean teenager, Lara Jean, and her horror at finding that her secret, private love letters to her crushes were actually mailed to all of them. The rom-com has garnered a lot of love since its release and has 2 sequels. 

The Edge of Seventeen

While we are at young adult comedy movies on Netflix, we can't write off the list without 'The Edge of Seventeen.' The work of Kelly Fremon Craig, the movie stars charming Hailee Steinfeld as Nadine, a seventeen-year-old teenager transversing through high school, love and life as a person coming-of-age. Nadine feels lonely and shy but sees a silver lining when she meets a mentor who guides her through life. The comedy movie is R-rated for all its crude jokes and yet is a very sweet watch.

Due Date

Starring the legendary Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis, Jamie Foxx, Juliette Lewis, and Michelle Monaghan, Due Date is an adult comedy directed by Todd Phillips. One of the best works of Robert besides Iron Man, the comedy is a journey film of Robert's character Peter Highman and Zach Galifianakis' character Ethan, who is an aspiring actor and is despised by Peter. Their eventful journey is often compromised by Ethan while Peter struggles to reach his expecting wife on her due date.
