The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced the nominees’ list for 2022 on Wednesday, the list of inductees will be announced in May 2022 with the final ceremony set to take place in Los Angeles this fall.

John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said in a statement, “This year’s ballot recognizes a diverse group of incredible artists, each who has had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture. Their music not only moved generations, but also influenced the sound of countless artists that followed.”

For being eligible for the nominations in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an artist or band must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the year of nomination. Rock Hall explained further, “Nominee ballots are sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historian, and members of the music industry. Factors such as an artist’s musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique are taken into consideration.”

Eminem who is currently gearing up to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show along with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar has earned a nomination in the first year of him being eligible for the nomination under The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Duran Duran  took to their official social media to thank fans for their constant support and love over the years and wrote, “This distinction is due in large part to the fact that we have an army of fans around the world who have unwaveringly supported us for the past four decades.”

Frontman Rob Halford of Judas Priest who has been nominated for the third time is positive that they will get a nod this year. He spoke to Billboard via Zoom call and said, “I know you’ve seen this year’s selection, and it’s crazy. My mind’s going, ‘I must do a duet with Dolly Parton! I must do a duet with Kate Bush!’ If Lionel [Richie] and Priest get in, I think we’ll both be dancing on the ceiling, together. It’s wonderful. As we’ve said before, it’s a blessing and it’s a rush — it’s still a rush to be nominated for the Hall, especially when you’re in the company again of such an eclectic bunch of fellow musicians.”

Fans can vote for their favorite artist and the five artists with the most votes will comprise a ‘fan ballot’ that will be tallied along with other ballots when inductees are selected. The voting ends on 29th April 2022.
