The Walking Dead ended in a pretty ambiguous position and it could be said that the literal coin flip in the series was great enough to lay off the finale.

The Acts of God episode in the series shows the character facing off the Commonwealth in a battle, with both the inside and the outside of the community taking the brunt of the force in the war. Things take on some serious drama when Max, played by Margot Bingham uncovers some of her boss's secrets and discovers her connection with Connie, played by Lauren Ridloff

The secrets allow her to bring Pamela Milton down with an article that she titles "Pamela Milton is Lying to You." Though her work and writeup were great, the waging of war is much more strong as Lance, played by Josh Hamilton, and Leah, played by Lynn Collins, decide to kill Maggie with combined forces.

Maggie is captured by Leah and is about to kill her when she is hindered by her former lover Daryl, played by Norman Reedus. Things take an unexpected turn as Leah is killed by Daryl. Of course, Daryl is heated up from all the blood and gore flowing around and is ready to take more lives.

He shoots Lance in the face but Lance had already managed to take over Alexandria by the time with his combined forces of the Commonwealth. The residents of Oceanside, peaceful during the entirety of the war, are taken hostage and Hornsby ends up flipping a coin in the air. Pretty spooky, right?

As you can already guess, coin flipping is a pretty serious affair. The showrunner of The Walking Dead revealed that things are at pretty high stakes and the Hornsby flipped the coin to decide whether the residents of Oceanside will get to live or not.

So, the entire locale of Oceanside faces an uncertain future because they decided to not side with the Commonwealth, agreeing with Maggie. It is uncanny to see such odds stacked against the people.

The Walking Dead is running its season finale this year and was divided into two parts. Part 1 is over now and there is a short wait until the second part of the season finale will air on your screens. So, fans will have to wait with their breaths hitched to see if the Oceansiders will make it in the end.

Yet, you could continue on with your mania of The Walking Dead as you read through these details of the final season of the show. The showrunner recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly and revealed some of the secrets of the characters as never seen before.

Here is all you need to know to better understand what happened and also know what to expect in the coming episodes of part two.

First, there is the creepy appearance of the locusts in the series. Angela Kang revealed that using the locusts was an idea brought forward by the writers on the show and t was intriguing enough to be used in the series. The series shows that the globe as a whole poses a problem to the community of The Walking Dead, apart from the fact that there are literal walkers walking around the place.

The series is hence full of events that could challenge the surviving civilization at any moment. A storm could end up becoming deadly while fires are always a cause of mass destruction. But then there are also locusts, gross and creepy to the core, a locust swarm could shape up the world in no time at all.

The locusts can easily compromise safe shelters, infest food, and create all kinds of trouble for the people in no time at all. The civilization in The Walking Dead is kicked back into the past each time they face a natural calamity as such and the swarm only solidifies that living in such a post-apocalyptic community could never be easy.

The locusts not only target the civilization with their destruction but also are an environmental hazard. It is also interesting to see that the swarms come around only when Leah reaches the peak of her rage and it seems like she has something personal against them. If anything at all, it is interesting to see how it all fits into the story.

Then, there is the newly budding trust in the relationship between Negan and Maggie. Maggie had come to trust him after he saved Hershel at the Riverbend and things could now be changing for the two.

The showrunner explained that the newfound trust is just the very first step for them to move on forward in their lives. Guessing from the pattern between the two, there is a big chance that their small step forward will be followed by bigger steps backward. Yet, the two are extremely messed up from an emotional point of view at the time.

Of course, Maggie has come to see that Negan had done justice to her child and she has put a lot of stock in the changed behavior of the man, regardless of the fact that he never apologized to her. Needless to say, Maggie is not as foolhardy to forgive him without an official apology for the issue.

Still, the two are mature and have their own problems to deal with. Being a leader, Maggie has certain responsibilities and knows that greater things are at the stake. Hence, it is important for them to keep their differences aside and work together for mutual betterment.

Maggie had also come to see the merit in Annie and has recognized the goodness in her. The two have decided to think the better of the other and they are both moved by each other's will to live.

Maggie is also smart enough to not hate Annie because of the circumstances of her pregnancy and who her partner is, and knows that she has better odds if she is friends with her.

The characters of The Walking Dead have built up a pretty solid legacy for themselves. Now it is left to see where they end up with the series finally coming to a close
